Hey guys, When I bought the bike a few months ago I didnt really know much about carburetors so when the guy told me it ha da mikuni something on it, i was like, OK

Now I am having a hard time finding someone to work on it and decided I will do it myself.

I found a bunch of manuals and exploded views on mikunis webside, but I still cant figure out have to identify the model of the carb.

Any input on identifying the carb, tuning it, cleaning it, and anything else will be very much appreciated.

Im also considering taking off the teardrop S&S Super intake and doing an open K&N style breather.

INPUT?? Thanks

It's likely a Mikuni HSR 42, typically found on street Harley set ups.

OK so i finally found the guy and he filled in the blanks for me.

The previous owner swapped the stock 37 with a mikuni 42. As moxnix predicted its the HSR42.

The guy also mentioned that it has not been jetted for the Vance and Hindes Exhaust and S&S Intake.

Is it necessary to get new jets to match it to the exhaust and intake. If so does anyone know what jets to switch to?

It shouldn't need to be re-jetted, it probably just needs to be cleaned. Lots of little parts that can trap dirt.

HSR42 rebuild will be plenty good for a stock Buell with minor mods even good enough for a 1250cc kit, exhaust and head work. I opted for the Mitkuni 45 only because of major headwork, cams and exhaust.

Yeah the more I read about it, the more the HSR42 sounds like the perfect fit for my setup. However, Im not sure what jets are presently in the thing. I read there are some roll on roll off tests I can do to determine whether my jets are too big or too small.

But being as a new Clean filter and new spark plugs REALLY made it run smoother, I am going to opt for a cleaner first before I dive in and start messing with its guts.
