Hi Guys..I have a 00 X1 running a forcewinder intake and race exhaust. The ECM is stock.
I pulled the plugs and it looks like it is running lean. (Whitish). The bike runs pretty hot too.
Will converting to a race ECM solve these issues?

It'll be a start in the right direction.

If you increase air intake without a corresponding fuel increase you're going to run lean.

Mine has always had "lean" looking plugs and I have had the bike since new with the race kit, and a Daytona Boss muffler.

I don't think plug reading works the same as it did in the days with carbs and Lead in the gas. I think modern F.I. and combustion chamber design lets modern engines run too clean to leave traditional deposits.

I remember that my 1989 KLR250 plugs would be worn out after 15,000 miles but they would look powdery white clean.
My 1979 XLH however, that would turn the insulators tan when it was running right.

That said, getting the race ECU is probably the best money you can spend on your bike.

TL;DR version:
Yes, get a Race ECU.

just load the race maps onto the stock ecm, maybe up the rev limits. so you'll need ecmspy and a lead, another must have.
