40mm WP fork time. I contacted MotionPro, who make nice drivers at a reasonable cost. They don't make a 40mm driver, but they hunted down a 40mm fork for me and tested their 41mm driver - too big, they said - it hits the outer tube. Amazing follow-through on customer service from them - really nice people, and I will go to them when I need the 43mm for the XB Showas. But now I am down to: a. beg/borrow a driver from someone; b. buy the almost double price RaceTech driver that is for 40-41mm tubes; c. find another source; or, d. try the PVC DIY alternate method, carefully, as these 40mm seals are way pricier than the 43mm's for the XB showa unit, and I don't want to trash them. Any recommendations? | ||

Thanks - Is there a standard coupling piece that is the best piece to use, or do you have to fab something and do a really good job smoothing out the edges? As you can tell, I'm kinda skeered about messing up the seals. | ||

When I did mine I used PVC cut in half then zipp tied together, then used my drill press to press it in to place not turned on of course | ||

I used about 4" of 1.5" PVC, beveled the inside of one end to about 1/8" (so it would touch the solid part of the seal and not the lip) then split it in half. when assembling I held the 2 halves together with my hand and used the fork lower to drive (tap) the PVC and in turn the seal...worked perfectly | ||

How are the halves held together? Do you use the casting at the bottom of the slider as a slide hammer? | ||

Fahren...you're welcome...it took me awhile to find all the info here too...what a great resource this site is... Dynosaur...the driver has pins on one side and receiver holes on the other side so when placed together around the fork the alignment is correct...I just held it with hands and drove it home...worked very well REVz (Message edited by revz on July 21, 2011) | ||
