Picked up an '00 X1 today and knew immediately the seat had to go- can't stand it! Anybody here have a stock seat to sell or trade, or anyone interested in buying this Corbin from me so I can replace it with something not designed by the Marquis de Sade?

How much do you want for the Corbin?
Dibs if it is within the range of what I am willing to pay!

I honestly have absolutely no idea what a fair price is. Also, I need to find a seat to replace at the same time or I'm stuck not being able to ride my new bike. I'm open to all suggestions and offers...

Looks like you got some sort of "sit on the frame rails short" custom there.

A stocker is an improvement over that.

I need a softer seat... this one is so hard that between 3-4k rpm my eyes go blurry from the vibes transmitting through the seat! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't experienced it myself (it's an age thing- I've just started using reading glasses too...).

I've always heard that Corbin's take a while to break in, but I literally cannot ride the bike in the current condition. Ain't no way this old, fat, broken guy is going to make it to this seat's break in.

I am interested in getting a softer seat in good/very good condition (the Corbin looks near-new) and making this seat go away, this is not a profit-motivated situation- I just need a comfortable seat!

I just checked on Corbin's website and it appears to be a Gunfighter & Lady Saddle- a leather seat with comfort cell foam (my posterior begs to differ), fibertech basepan, and a removable backrest mount. It retails for $439.

Still open to suggestions and offers...

Looking @ what is being quoted, I'm out!
I have a Corbin seat already.
I was looking for a spare but $300-400 is too much for me at the moment.
Thanks.

Mtjm2,

That's the garage of my business, Ton Up Jacksonville, and the "Brit" bike is actually a '76 Honda CB550 Four cafe bike. Painting a Union Jack on a Honda is a great way to instill it with some class...

Pete, I'd keep the Corbin and give it another chance. They are hard but are MUCH better than a stock seat for any length of time.

The Buell accessory custom "pegasus" seats come up occasionally and are a big step up from the stock seat. I have them on my S1 and M2 and like them a lot.

Custom X1 seat:

x1 custom

Another option would be to buy a cheap stock seat and have Baldwin (Go_windward here) recover it. I don't have one, but they get good reviews.

And....congratulations, NICE X1!

Pete , nice looking X1. I'm sure enjoying mine.

I have a brand new, never been on a bike stock seat. I have to agree with you the Corbin is pretty darn hard.

If you interested drop me a note and we can work something out.

Took her out again this morning... never thought I would ever have to say this, but I am honestly concerned about my ability to live with this bike. The last time I rode a tuber I was 34- I'm now 43, and in between I spent 2.5 years recovering from a bike accident in which I suffered eight fractures. I sure don't remember them being this "raw", and am starting to wonder if I might have to pass this one along to a more dedicated Bueller.

She looks and sounds good (not sure what exhaust she's got), new rubber, freshly serviced, and only 8,600 miles. I have invested exactly $3,547.75 in this bike, and if anyone's interested I would consider letting her go.

This experience is really hitting me hard...

After reading the whole thread I don't think your bike should be vibrating that much. All of mine are quite smooth over 3000. I would look for other issues like the exhaust mounting and the isolators.

Check that front isolator! A failing one can make these bikes seem very RAW!!

I honestly don't think your issue is the hard seat. If you are getting that much vibration in the frame to make the ride unbearable you should check your front and rear isolators. Do a search. There is plenty of information here to point you in the right direction. Don't give up on the bike (and the seat) that fast. Just my opinion.

Are these things that can be checked visually/manually? I'm what could be best described as "mechanically challenged".
