Just installed a XB oil cooler on my X1 and purchased an oil filter adapter to feed it.
Do you think i would have an issue if i ran hard lines to the cooler? The cooler is mounted were everyone mounts them on the small diameter vertical tube by the solid frame hemi mount. The cooler is also mounted with rubber coated clamps around the frame. Will the vibes screw it up or do you think i will be ok?

I would do braided lines. Got any pix so far? I would like to do that this winter. Where did you get the filter adapter?

You need flexible lines otherwise something going to crack in a short period of time.

im trying not to do braided stainless.. i hate braided stainless... lol.

I bought the adapter on ebay. Its billet aluminum and is very nice. Ill post up a pic of my mount for you Nate-

Jramsey- VERY NICE... do you have more info on how you ran your lines? I would rather skip the adapter i already bought and run direct like you did....

Also, which fittings and hose is that your using?

I used Stratoflex, its single braid stainless inner with a woven cloth outer.

Two 1/8" NPT x number 6 straight fittings, one for the pump one for the oil filter housing.

About 24" of #6 Stratoflex hose,3 straight and one 90 degree hose ends.
All the above should be available at a heavy truck service supplier.

BTW the 6 row XB cooler uses 45 degree fittings not 37 degree.

Like others have stated, with hardlines it'll most likely crack/leak.
You have two pieces NOT moving in unison (frame/motor)

Its been used for oil and air compressor lines on semi trucks since the mid '40s.

Any Freightliner/Peterbuilt type truck dealer/repair shop will have it.

I have a friend in the truck repair business so mine was free.

I think retail it would be about 40-50 bucks for the fittings and hose.

Hey Pur... Check with your local Napa. If they have a machine shop they usually make hydraulic lines in house too. Pick the hose, the length and fittings you want and they will crimp them together for you.

Good luck! those are JIC 37 degree fittings and no -6 size.
+ crimped fittings look like shit(along with hose clamps) IMO.

If the OIL COOLER does not have a THERMOSTAT in it, where are you going to attach the add on THERMOSTAT ???

Have been running for 15 years with a Jag oil cooler and Jag/Harley temperature controlled bypass valve on three of my S3. Vital if riding in Nevada or Utah. The oil cooks in short order without the cooler.

Pulled the line from the oil return of the oil pump. Figured this is the hottest oil in the system.
Scavenged oil now travels from the oil pump, through the Jag/Harley temperature controlled bypass valve, through the oil cooler, then to the oil tank.
The Jag/Harley temperature controlled bypass valve mounts under the oil pump with the use of tie wraps.

Clean install. Oil cooler lines run up past the voltage regulator and oil filter to the oil cooler. No adapter required.
