So I am now replacing my front isolator for the third time. Twice due to normal wear and tear, once due to completing 4 cartwheels at the track. I see American Sport Bike has the "updated" kit for $26.95.

http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/17025-B.html

Shipped to the door it was less than $40. Just to compare I called my local HD Dealer, Appleton Harley of Appleton WI, and their price was $65. WHAT???

Thanks Al! I can step away from the bike for this weekend and wait for the part to arrive.

I say give it a shot. I went with the -87B part (whatever it was... had to ream the hole out some to get the bolt to fit) and have been good for 10kmi so far.

Ignore 101, this isolator falls under the curriculum falls under 102.

Follow the directions with the kit and it will last a long time.

I'm sorry Buellistic but your tricks will not work with this new isolator, it has been reviewed by one of the engineers on the new iso project and said instructions are found to be detrimental to the new kit...

What is the -79D? I should be getting my parts today from American Sport Bike and soon installing front and rear isolators. Fot my FSM and got the wiring figured out. Body trim and tank getting sent out for paint today.

Go with the updated buell part, not the 79d part

"...said instructions are found to be detrimental to the new kit."

What instructions are you referring to? The one that came with the new kit or the FSM?
The FSM instructions for this particular job suck since they are part of a much larger job. The instructions with the kit were pretty straightforward.

Anybody agree that the NEW BUELL 17025-B will fit on the BIG TWIN PLATE FORM ???

"WHY" would the 17025-B not install the same as the 16207-79D H-D part ???

Well, American Sport Bike was out of stock so I may end up putting another 79D on just to get by. Dealer has never heard of the 17025-B.

You can also try Lake Shore HD. I got mine from them.

Mobil 1 in your transmission is causing the isolator failure.

I have had good luck with the new isolator installed the way the instructions say to install it. In fact it was the most reliable part on my bike during my last trip.

4 of the 8 S2's at the last gathering had the new isolater, installed per the included instructions. Everyone that had it, loves it.

No PM or 101 needed!

Buy the Kit, install per the BUELL APPROVED and TESTED instructions and you will be fine. The engineers that worked on this program tested it on their own bikes.

What is the BUELL Part Number for this LATEST AND GREATEST KIT ???

How about someone that still has the INSTRUCTION post it ...

That way we can all read it and see what is the difference ...

"...what is the difference."

I don't recall the instructions that applied to X1s (notched frame) being that different from the OEM. The procedure for the "non-notched" frame Tubers differed from the X1 but I don't know how different that was from the OEM. The new kit has no D-washer but instead has a large flat washer (stub washer) which goes between the ISO and the frame.

Here ya go

Like Kalai said not much difference on later models. IE notch framed. But I did not confirm the torque values.

The BIG change is mounting on un-notched frames and placement of the new snubber and loss of the D washer.
