I got to to replace the seal again, last time about 4 years ago. My question is , will splicing my tranny puke tube into the oil return tube ( similar to people routing their head breather back into the oil tank) have any adverse affects. I'm just trying to get by until I have the $$$ and time to do the seal change again. Any opinions???

Don't do it. Wait until you get the $$$ to do it right. Oil puking will be the least of your problems and oil at the rear tire is not worth trying to get a little ride time out of it.... not safe, not worth saving some small amount only to damage your bike by crashing it or killing yourself. do not push it... not worth it.. I have see people put extra EBOCs, oil air separators, tampons, cloth napkins you name it.... just not worth it fix it right and be sure to use the Buell tool to insert the next seal not the H-D tool. There is a big difference.

Just to be clear we're on the same page, I was talking about teeing the tranny breather tube into the oil return line that goes back into the oil tank not the head breather lines that go elsewhere, for some into a filter or under the bike.

You want to splice a *breather* line....

Into a *pressurized* return line.

Should work fine if you want to pump all your engine's return oil into your primary.

High pressure wins.

Low pressure gets out of the way.

I forgot to mention about putting a check valve in the breather tube so the return line doesn't push oil into the breather line.

Sounds like a good way to turn a problem into a disaster when a joint breaks, or when the pressure from the transmission finds "some other" path to freedom. So you will just be spraying it out your clutch cable instead of your overflow vent.

And primary fluid (if you are using the best you can use) has special additives that make it outstanding for transmissions, but that will leave engine breaking deposits if it ever gets into a combustion chamber. You could get around that by putting engine oil in the primary, but then you aren't running the best primary oil.

And how would you maintain the right oil level in the primary?

Crank seal replacement isn't that hard or that expensive... I'd just fix it.

100% totally agree with Reep... just fix it.

"...similar to people routing their head breather back into the oil tank.."

People have actually tried this? First I hear about it. Sounds creative but I don't think it will work.

I think you're a little confused on what all of these hoses are doing...
