When I purchased my 02 M2L the previous owner had a screw going into the bottom of the seat...it didn't fasten very well so I made sure to have it tightened before each ride.

now - several years later, the screw has nothing to grip. I had the seat pop up and shift the other day when going over a set of railroad tracks...too scary.

is there an actual locking mechanism for the stock seat? or should I just go pick up a nut from the hardware store to match the existing screw and fasten it to the seat?

other options...industrial strength velcro???

thanks.

i have an 02 m2, and there isnt a locking mechanism, but i would suggest getting a bigger screw if its not already big enough, otherwise id suggest getting nut fastening it down dome other way

Pathetic seat screw thread, there were a few ideas for improving the seat attachment lower in the thread. It's reasonably short so I wouldn't be afraid to read the whole thing:

i went to walmart and got a 2x3 piece of Velcro cleaned applied where the bolt went. no problems for years now.

I used a insert that you would put in a piece of wood furniture to allow a metal bolt to go in. I attached it to the seat with epoxy. Then I set up a thumbscrew with a washer on it. parts wer about $5.00 at the local hardware store. it has been working good for 4 years now.
