Hello All,

I am a new owner of a 02 X1 and would like to know how to backup the ECM configuration and then restore it to the same or different ECM?

Any help, things to look out for, etc, appreciated!

I have "Vehicle Diagnostic Scan Tool" that I am still learning about. I did use it to reset the TPS but that's the extent of use thus far.

I also have a copy of EcmSpy.

Thanks again!

I've never used VDSTS so I don't know what it can or can't do, but ECMspy will do the trick. Fire up ECMspy, click Fetch EEPROM, then save it. You are done, you are backed up. I recommend you email it to yourself that way you still have it in the event the laptop has a major failure.

Froggy,

Will do!

Do you know how to have the Firmware updated on a ECM or who could perform that?

Steven
