When I got the bike my buddy the previous owner handed me a plastic bag with new fork seals in it that the owner before him had given him in 2003....he said "they never leaked that bad so I never bothered."

fast forward after 8 years of sitting and the 400 miles I've put on the bike since getting it running again and they were making a mess of the wheel and most noticeably the brake.....

I bought a set of Dunlop Sportmax Q2's for it a couple weeks ago, installed the rear last Friday and got the front tire on and new fork seals in yesterday. I started the tear down at 1pm and had everything cleaned up finished at 10:30pm not terrible for a noob huh?



I've done a set of regular forks before, never messed with the upside down ones before...all in all it wasn't that bad, go slow and follow the manual

I took no pictures other than this one with my cell phone....greasy hands on my wife's camera would have been bad juju lol

did a nice 100 mile test ride today, seems to ride a bit better (could be that the rebound and compression settings were set for a previous rider, I didn't check)

Next on the list, figure out why it feels like the clutch is chattering under hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear.....I've changed the fluid, done a clutch and cable adjustment twice....wondering if the 8 year nap has damaged something.

I'd be looking at the spring plate in the clutch and I wouldn't waste time before checking. Replace it with one fiber and two steel plates.
If any of the rivets are missing.....then you have to find them and look for other damage caused by them. If the plate is still intact, then it's an easy fix. Just get rid of it.

Had to do the seals on my S3 forks, only part that was a B about it was that one of the top caps wouldnt come off, it was messing up the head of it, so I had to SLOWLY, drip by drip add the fluid in from the bottom. That took at least an hour.
It really is a pretty simple thing to do.
No help on your clutch problem though, sorry

heh well now I feel a bit dumb, but this is my first belt drive bike......I figured out my "chattering clutch"...I started thinking about when the problem started and what I'd done recently.....turns out there's a fine line between "scary loose" and "too loose"

So today I did the support bike, unhook rear shock, run suspension through range of motion adjustment.....no more "chatter"

btw it was about 1/2 turn of the adjusters.....
