That looks awful close. I would be concerned about the bracket vibrating against the spark plug wire. I also have mine flipped over opposite of yours. You can get a little more room by bending the bracket into a loose "s" shape. That make sense? Id monkey around with it and get a lil more clearance just to be safe.

***now that I think about it I was planning on it flipped the way you had it when using that mount hole. You should still be able to bend it upwards for more clearance.

Nice X1 btw.

and on the clearence issue when you have it flipped that way you will find that there is VERY little room on top because of the fuel tank...

Speaking of bars... I have been drooling on this set up... Kinda spendy though.

Factory gauge panel doesn't work for me. I am going to make a shorty regardless of my bar choice.

drool

Oh and... duh.. I think I know where the plugs are ; )

Nwrider:
Sorry for the delay. I'm a second shifter.

Regarding your question about cost of a used race ECM, I've seen them for $150 and up. Problem with using ECMspy would be to change the data, only to have the dealer reflash it and destroy what you created. Or not! I've got the race ECM on my '99 and think the fuel maps are great. Bike runs strong.

Regarding your thinking about changing out the factory dash...caution...if you put a shiny dash on, the reflection will blind you on those beautiful sunny days.

I like your thinking regarding your bike cleanup. Awesome color too.

I will keep my eyes open for a race ecu... in the last couple months I haven't seen any up for grabs. From what I understand u can just back up yer factory maps and custom maps on yer laptop. Plug and play sounds a wee bit easier tho.

Sun? In oregon? Occasionally but I had planned on black regardless... never thought about reflection tho.

And thanks... gonna be doing several mods over the next couple months but will probably get serious next winter when I can bear seeing it sit.
