So I rebuilt the rear caliper (on my tuber - 2000 Cyclone), then, having read about reverse bleeding in the old school and the knowledge vault I gave that a try. Ended up with a bunch of little black flecks in the rear reservoir. Well, that's got to be the lining from the braided hose a local shop built up for me. Tried to apply some brake to set the new pads and there is nothing. Absolutely nothing but (perhaps) a little mechanical resistance in using the brake. Hmmm, prolly that line has bunged up the master. Called Al and he suggested I do a regular bleed to get bubbles trapped at the sensor, oh and raise the caliper to get everything up top to the bleeder... waiting on the new Speigler line before I start that again. I'm concerned though since there's no pressure. I did teflon tape the bleeder, so I can use a mity vac to pull the fluid through... Figured I'd mull that over whilst I redid the front caliper and made sure it was done right. Caliper's redone, new hardware and line set up and torqued to spec. Force bled the system using a big syringe from the farm/ranch supply store... Now I've got nothing up front either. NOTHING. I mean there's no resistance what-so-ever. I tried the method of opening it up and tying the lever down to open it up and let bubbles find their way out, left it for a couple days. So now I'm posting this, frustrated, since I've not tried a normal bleed, just thinking chances are slim to none that I'll move any fluid using the lever. I'd like to put this in the KV, but how many of us even check in over there anymore? I've seen threads with questions un answered from March. Anyway, suggestions here are welcome. Can't help mike i've been there on a few bikes. Including the X1. I sat and messed with the front master on my Kawi klr650 for over 2 hours trying to get it to bleed. The syringe method finally worked for my problem. I changed the front brake line to a steel braided one on the x1. the only thing i found helpful was do not let the master cylinder go dry keep pouring in fluid/or plug it off so it doesn't drain totally. | ||

my rear brake on my 99' cyclone is having the same problem. I replaced the brake sensor then bleed the brakes, but it's clogged somewhere, can't get any pressure, nor will it bleed through the caliper. I am ready to replace the whole line. let me know how the Speigler line work out (direct fit?) and if you cure the issue. | ||

Well I'm following Al's recommendation on the (rear) line and doing a sort of custom job, moving the sensor to the master so that it's no longer a high spot to hold air bubbles in line. Once I've got that line I'll rebuild the rear master, no point in pushing more of the contaminant through a clean part. The caliper should still be good since I put clean fluid in through the bleeder. I'm going to try and re-position the front master, looking closely, maybe my bars are sitting at an angle that lets it hold air... it's something, which beats trying nothing. have you rebuilt the masters or just calipers and replaced lines I have cracked the banjo at the front master and bled a little air out I assume that fluid is ok with the new parts |
