SO I have a few issues I need to address with my newly aquired 2000 S3, but I am currently waiting for my service manual and need a bit of help. Would anyone be willing to post up the oil check and oil change procedure. Also it looks as though the rear shock is leaking. It is the recall shock with the SRP on it. What is the best way to address this? Can it be serviced or is just a bite the bullet and replace? Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Ill have a ton of questions over the next few weeks, the S3 is a far different creature the my XB was!

As Butch points out, you will need to replace the shock. I am surprized it is on your bike, I thought that recall preceded the 2000 model year.

Oil check is hot on the sidestand.

Oil change is the same as any tuber (or even XB, except for the location of the oil tank).

Hot on the sidestand for checks, I keep mine only about halfway up the stick, otherwise it will just fine ways to get out.

If it's cold, it should be just touching the stick, just.

Changing is simple - hose off the tank, filter on the lower front left side of the engine. If you're doing the primary, you'll need to pull the muffler.

The rear shock recall was during the 2000 model year as I recall, LOL. I had a hard time getting my local dealer to agree to do it, had to call East Troy personally. There are a couple on ebay for under $100.
I bought mine new in 2000 and wouldn't trade for anything even with all the headaches. Its not as pretty anymore, leaks a little oil, but still runs strong and is a blast to ride.
