I just picked up a used Banke shifter and was hoping someone could help me out with how/where the top part of the assembly (that slides onto splined shaft & allen bolts tight) is orientated? My original thought would be straight up and down I.E ~12 0' clock, but after looking at some archived pics I'm not so sure? Can anyone shed some light? Im at work now but would like to get the installation wrapped up this evening!

tho i bought this one from original owner several years ago, it also came from the bloomington dealer. i believe that jeff and his staff are some of the best in the nation to deal with when it comes to buells. they treat me right whether i buy the parts and do the work, or turn it over to them for things i don't feel comfortable/can't do myself.....

i help out around the shop whenever i can to try to earn my keep. on demo days, i ride sweep so that they don't have to pull a staff member off duty.....it is such a tortuous job...............

although there are no more new buells to ride, the xr is the closest thing to fun that is on the floor......

I Def agree with you when it comes to Jeff and his staff! They have always been a pleasure to work with and at one time one of the most supportive BUELL Dealerships that I had ever walked into! They always had plenty of Buells to choose from and always a couple of Aprilias too! I don't get to B-town as much as I used to because I moved further into Columbus but I do still visit Family there and Ride St Rd 45 there in the summertime! If I ever see ya I'll say Hello!

Which o'clock position you settle on might be different, depending on where your footpegs are. Also where you like the shifter is relation to the footpegs. Also how big your feet are, and what kind of boots, or shoes you wear. Also, which (how long) a lingage are you have.
But in general, like the picture FastEd posted above. There isn't an exact "right way" because of the variables mentioned.

Just measure (estimate) from your preferred shifter position back to the gearbox splines.
(I did this on an X1 and it took 2-3 "goes" to find the sweet spot for the linkage.)

Thanks for the tips fella's! I guess I'll just play around a bit before tightening it all up! I did not know if a certain angle made the small shifter rod work better out worse! Looks like it does not really matter!

When i bought my '00 X-1,it came with the Banke shifter and brake pedal setups.I had to adjust the "clocking" position due to my foot positioning/comfort setup(my "18 inches of bent leg"-size 12 feet wouldn't cooperate comfortably with the previous owners "clocking")..everything pretty much adjusts/hinges off of how you set the actual pedal angle..as stated before,it may take several tries but once you get the "sweet spot",just cinch it down and enjoy
