Anyone have a good source to replace the failed (missing!) front hangar bushings? (#19 in the photo below) I know, I know....updated hangar and all that jazz. I just want a bushing!

I've also been looking for that bushing. Seems really hard to find. |

Well Buell discontinued it long ago. Al had some replacements, but he no longer does. Maybe I'll get out the calipers and measure it all up, and head to the hdwr store. Can't be too hard to find a bushing to fit in there, even if I need to drill out the center to fit the sleeve... |

I might have the ones I removed from mine when I installed the Y hangar. I'll check when I get home. They're yours if I do. |

Hootowl, that would be GREAT! It's not my X1, it's a buddies that I help maintain...I got him bit by the Buell bug, I just hate seeing him run into things like having to spend $100+ for a new hanger just because the bushing is crap! Let me know what you find. |

On the other hand, it's $100 one time. The new mount is really well built. His exhaust will be less likely to break its front mount with the Y hangar. I'll let you know what I find. |

Andy, Might be able to return the favor! Let me check tonight/tomorrow for an older hanger I got awhile back...IDK if it has the bushing or not, but I can send it off it if it's good... |

Timing is just bad, and I'd like to take care of him....but I'd also like to not buy him a $100 hanger THanks again to Hoot and Wilson, I'll check back later tonight! |

I'm thinking of making my own bushing out of rubber and a metal sleeve but don't know where to look for rubber that won't melt from the exhaust. Any ideas? I've already melted off a car hanger at the rear mount. Anyone care to sell the bracket that mounts under the Z bracket? (Message edited by x1brett on May 19, 2011) |

They look an awful lot like the Sway bar link bushings off of a Jeep XJ. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ewItem&item=360362661774&crlp=1_263602_325002&ff4= 263602_325002&viewitem=&clk_rvr_id=233567197828&gu id=553b661812b0a04371674877fffb531f&hlp=false&rvr_ id=233567197828&ua=WXF%3F&itemid=360362661774 I'd give it a look. Sway bar link rebuild kit is available at Autozone for about $8. You would only need one. |

Hah, interesting! I have some Jeep suspension parts (including a bunch of urethane bushings) at home....I'll have a look! I have my doubts tho- most suspension bushings are larger in diameter. |

I just placed an order for the ones from TWIN, they are cheap shipping cost more then the part, but still cheaper then the last ones people posted from Ebay |

Andy - Im actually working on getting some extra parts right now, including an exhaust hanger, I'll let you know when I do and you can have the bushing if still needed |

"Wilson's mount did not have one- did yours?" I'm sorry, one what? Also, I'm afraid I don't have those bushings. They must have been pretty well shot or I would have saved them. The ones linked above are inexpensive enough though. If I didn't already have the Y mount, I might be tempted to pick up an extra set. |

Haha, you said you were going to check for the bushings, that's what I was asking about. Thanks for the offer. I'll measure up the bracket and see if I can order something suitable from above. I'll post up what I find. |

I'm trying an experiment on an M2 right now. I've done it on car engine mounts to stiffen them up, filled them with RTV silicone. I bolted the M2's exhaust to an empty Y-hangar and filled the void around the bolt with UltraBlack RTV. It gets pretty hard, and lasted a good long time in my car engine mounts years ago (this in a 12 second turbocharged FWD Dodge). We'll see how it fares on a Buell exhaust |

Rat- That's an interesting idea. I think it would work GREAT if the RTV would be held captive by the tabs on the muffler. But with the shoulders that the factory bushings have, and the resulting gaps between the sides of the bracket and the muffler tabs....I fear that it might not work as well. Let me know how it works out! I'm not near my buddy's bike....can someone grab a caliper and tell me the inside diameter of the opening in the bracket, and the outside diameter of the sleeve in the middle of the bushing??? That would rock! |

Thanks Steve, that might be of help! I'm going to measure and see if I can source an aftermarket one- hopefully I can get ove to his place in the next couple of days to measure it. If I can't find one that works, I'll grab yours for sure! And soon, I hope! It would be good to see you guys again. |

What's wrong with the ones from twinmotorcycles? They're in stock, and pretty inexpensive. |

Well I wouldn't say anything is *wrong* with them... but shipping would be more than 4 times the part cost, bringing the total to $35 USD! |

Ah. Still though, is $35 worth the hassle of trying to cobble something together? I guess I'd rather just shell out the $35 and call it a day. But then, my tolerance for BS is waning as I age. There was a time when I would have tried to make one myself, but that me is no more. |
