Mine does not. I wonder if that is a previous owner mod. Looks like a good idea. I have a couple of brackets and none have that mod.

Frank..
I looked REAL close at it as I had one break before too..
Im sure this was a factory install or who ever did it really done it too look factory..It wasnt broken or repaired in the useall broken spot at the bottom..
Maybe Court has some insite, but Im betting it was an updated version..This bike appears to have had all recalls, including the header mount,,
I also havent seen a muffler like on #107.. see pic..

Its nice work on the brackets...but I seriously doubt it's factory. "Talented Homebrew" maybe...

I've had three different S2T bag mounts and have never seen one like that.

Id swear it was factory done...The way the top and bottom pieces are stamped out and shaped to fit and one hell of a good tig welding job...Wonder if it was a late replacement...????

Never ever saw paperwork about an update. And I have the HD file of all the "Buell Bytes", P&A sheets, and tech bulletins, in .pdf format. Downloaded 'em to a thumbdrive when I figured my h-dnet password was about to be revoked ; )

I think Frank has pics, I can't find 'em...but my S2 mounts have mods too that look factory. But, they were done by a guy named Max I used to work with.

Max...could weld *air*. Bastard was GOOD.

And honestly...while those may be decent welds, they are not factory quality.

Look at your header, or your oil tank.

THAT is factory quality welding : )

It,s a good educated reinforcement of weak spots of saddle-bag frame. After over 132,000 miles on my S2T I would do the same!I was doing at break points inserting round-stock to join break then weld But like this-way even Better!!! Hank looks like other mods to top but can,t see good enuff.I give it many seal of approval!!!

Joe...the picture doesnt do the welds justice..They are as claena as the oil tank and header...i cleaned the part up but have all ready reassembled the tail section /bike etc..
regardless of who did it, of a good idea...maybe someone has had previous expiereince with breakage and done this before it broke..i DuNNO...LOL...
