I have a 2001 X1 with a broken drive belt. I was told it is a 128 tooth.
I have a friend who has a HD repair shop and gave me several belts to try out. One is a 132 tooth. Will this work?

That's gonna be nearly an inch longer. At least. You can *try* it, and might be able to adjust your wheel as far back as possible on the swingarm...my main concern, though, would be tooth pitch. Do the teeth fit your sprockets?

Well the teeth look like a match. I got the belt for free, so I want to try it. I will check the tooth spacing with a caliper to verify they are the same.

Any other input?

AFAIK All air-cooled Harleys use the same tooth pitch, just different amounts of teeth.

Ask for a sportster belt.
When the bike was first built, they were the same part#.
The Buell ones evolved away a bit but I got 45,000 miles from my original 2000 belt.

If you are going to spring for one here is something to think about. Put on a belt from a XB12 firebolt as those belts are built to last the life of your bike. They are thicker then a sportster belt. I put one on my Dad's sportster and it fit just fine so I know it will fit on a tuber.
