I decided to put the S2T bars on my S2 and to put the S2 bars on the project bike since I do not have a set on them. Anyone have an extra set of S2T bars they want to sell?

It seems I am one set of S2 bars short for all the S2s I have.

I may be short two bikes for the number of bars I have. They would be standard and not T bars, though. I'll take a look and if so I'll let you know.

When coming back from a ride with my S2 yesterday afternoon, I noticed "play" in the left handlebar. A closer look revealed that it is broken at joint where it is welded at the clamp. Before I inquire whether or not it's available new from the H-D dealer and at what cost or, worse, have it de-chromed, re-welded, and then re-chromed, I wonder if anyone has one for sale or would like to make a suggestion?

>>>A closer look revealed that it is broken at joint where it is welded at the clamp.

Known malady and it was a recall. There are threads here that show photos of the "right" and "wrong".

Should be bars available.

My first one went in turn #3 at Heartland Park Topeka and I rode by another one of the Buell test riders . . holding the bar and waving it. . . . fortunately . . it's got the clutch and cables attached to it and it gives quite a bit of warning when it fails.

Original Service Bulletin:

quote:

7. issued 11/95

Touring handlebar recall.

Problem; Handlebar breakage, not just stock S2T bars but any touring bars sold to S2 owners.

Fix; Replacement of the handlebars. Replacement bars can be identified by the lower several inches being crimped where it touches the collar. The original bars were notch cut and then welded to the collar.

Bernard:Newer bars have a crease in pipe at weld so they won,t break.Mine broke under warranty.a long time ago.

Thanks, guys,
send an e-mail to my Harley parts guy where I had brake pads and a few small tidbits on order. Hope I can get a new one without breaking the bank!
