While my bike is apart i wanted to change my swingarm bearings. Ended up buying a steering head/swingarm bearing remover/installer from http://www.georges-garage.com . Worked great! I ended up making my handle instead of buying one and also just used a piece of 1/2 threaded rod and washers for installing. Had the bearing out and new ones installed in mins. Just wanted to share how good the remover/installed worked. Going to do my steering head bearing this weekend. |

I was looking at the tool, it is in two pieces. How does it grip the bearing races? |

Were yours loose and if so, how many miles do you have on the bike? Ive got 26 K on mine, checked them this past winter and they didnt have any play in them. Just wondered how long they do last? Thanks. |

yes, its 2 piece with a lip on each side. The center hole is a 1/2". The driver handle is turned down to a 1/2" and when inserted into the 1/2" hole, locks it into place. I used a a 3/4" steel bar and welded a 1/2 bolt to the end of it. Im not really sure how long the bearing last. I always wondered the same. I am putting a used unknown mileage swingarm on my bike so I figured while it was all apart, i would put new swingarm bearings in. |

Neck bearings will wear more then swing arm bearings and should be checked more often. Lots of time it will just be a retorque on the neck thats needed unless you feel notches. |
