By the way. The reason I am sending this off is b/c I do not want to get rid of the polished carrier (which goes perfect with my PM wheels,) which is what would happen if I get the replacement rotor. I have the original pre-recall rotor, I believe. | ||

I'm pretty sure I have a polished (or chromed) carrier and a newer rotor. I'll have to take a closer look. Like Brad, I lust after the original rotor. No performance reason why, I just like original better! | ||

As of Monday, the rotor has still not arrived back. Was mailed back to me last Tues; that's nearly a full week. They stress a 1 day turnaround time which is true...they did the rotor in 1 day but completely negated when they send your rotor via Parcel Post! I discussed this with Tom, the owner and explained about the USPS Priority Flat Rate Large Box for $14.95 any weight under 70lbs. Stay tuned. | ||

Whew! Finally got 'er back, seven days after mailed from Michigan to Nevada. Attached is photo, note fine cross-hatch pattern. I've just installed it with new Ferodo pads and ready for the test ride to see if problem is cured. | ||

NOPE! Rotor still not true; and brake handle still pulsates, not to mention the whole front end upon front brake application. maybe it is the carrier. If you're just interested in a new surface it would probably be worthwhile, but I'm now looking for a brand new correct replacement. Any questions? | ||

Sounds like your carrier may be warped. Did you send it in carrier and all, or just the rotor? Shane | ||

Yes, I sent the carrier, attached. I was under the impression they would true up the assembly as a unit but they must have just grinded the rotor itself. Anyway, I have a new Nissin one on the way. | ||

Tom from Truedisk contacted me regarding my continued brake problems. After discussing the issue we have come to the suspicion that the problem may not be in the rotor being out-of-true at all, especially since this original rotor may be one that was on the recall list for being defective from the factory. I am going to install a brand new rotor, the updated style sold by Harley Davidson/Buell to replace the original and report the results. I continue to recommend Truedisk for rotor resurfacing. | ||

I installed a brand new updated carrier and rotor onto fairly new pm wheels with new pads and it is pulsating after only a couple thousand miles. Not sure what to do with it now. I had replaced it due to pulsating on the old rotor and carrier, I am beginning to suspect a problem with the alignment on the wheel hub. | ||

I am going to send my original back to Tom so he can check it out. Due to the unusual design of the Buell S2 original rotor he would like to scrutinize it thoroughly so as to provide the best quality service to Buell owners in the event they have theirs done by truedisk. | ||

I believe I have determined the problem with this rotor. The contact points were not cleaned of brake pad material prior to fastening rotor to carrier causing it to be out of true. Dressed it all with 60 grit emery cloth. Straight now. | ||

James,does this mean the resurfaced rotor works on your wheel now,no pulsation? | ||

A year or so ago I had a similar problem with pulsation from the front brake. I assumed it was the rotor as it was the original piece. Not being happy with current replacements I proceeded with my pad replacement and found 2 or 3 of the pistons were sticking in the caliper. Rebuilt the caliper, installed new pads and used the old rotor. Works great! No pulsating. | ||

That's good you found that issue, but I used the brand new one, no more pulsating. I still have the old 9 button orig. with polished carrier; I may put it back on when I do my fork seals. Amazing brake, by the way, nice to know you have it there if needed to its potential. As a matter fact, the whole bike is amazing; best ever! |
