Hey everyone I'm new to badweb and this is my first post. I just purchased a 2002 X1 3 weeks ago with 16k miles on it. It now has 17.5k =]. Anyway, I broke my throttle cable the other day, no big deal. Got a new cable from the dealer and installed it but when I fired up the and got to my first stop sign I realized that none of my turn signals or my turn signal indicators on my (dash?) were lighting up!

Ok now here are all of the events that happened between when I shut off my bike (turn signals working) and when I turned it back on (no turn signals). First thing that happened when I parked it was I took my seat off and removed my rain jacket which I kept under the seat. It was a little bit tight to remote but nothing I was ever concerned about. The only wire that I unplugged was to the sensor in the intake fairings housing in order to access the throttle cable. The bike was stored under an awning with the seat off, it did rain and if the wind blew a little bit the bike would have gotten a little bit wet. I usually keep my bike in the garage but I was on a trip and had left it out one night in a light rain. Ever since then I have been noticing a small condensation buildup in the dash (where your neutral light indicator as well as your low oil light and turn signals are).

I'm really annoyed with this and haven't been able to figure it out. I've tried searching it on badweb but couldn't find much. Does anyone have any solutions to this turn signal thing?

It sounds like you may have poked something while you were fishing the new cable through.

Check your easy stuff first:
Fuses
connectors under the tank

It's probably the type of thing that will take you an hour to find and 30 seconds to fix.

I checked all the fuses and connection under the tank and couldn't find anything disconnected. I tried pushing all of them together just in case they might only be appearing to be connected.

Also after checking over my bike again my brake light does not work either. I hope this gives a clue to somebody.

Hoping to get this fixed asap as I am planning on making a trip to ride the tail of the dragon this weekend.

Check the simple stuff first(as has been already stated before me);fuses, harness connections, anything where you were at while working on your bike.Turn the key on and back track, with a test light, the power through the circuit that you're checking and you'll find where power ends(checking on either side of harness connections).Once you find where power doesn't continue, you've found your problem area.

I'd wiggle the ignition switch (obviously the key is in) while you have the turn signal on.

If you own a BUELL you must learn to "FEAR" HARLEY-DAVIDSON technicians !!!

HARLEY-DAVIDSON technicians are very hard on BUELL ignitions switches ...

Buy a Factory Service Manual and Parts Book for your YEAR/MODEL BUELL(before they go out of print) and learn to be your own "MECHANIC" !!!

Alright so the problem was a bad flasher relay and a touchy connection to the rear light. It was just a coincidence that they both happened at once.
