Hi, first to start out I worked for an HD dealership for 6 years and was the only guy who knew Buells. I just bought a nice X1 (5th Buell I have owned) and am thinking toward ECMSPY. I converted the last X1 to carb and it was awesome, but am wanting to give the FI another shot....ECMSPY was not around back then. I know some computer stuff but never messed with ECMSPY. I want to know if it is worth getting, where to get it, and what maps for street riding. If anyone has a good map to share I would love to see it. tonehd79@hotmail.com

Sorry, I know there are alot of posts with ECMSPY but I really need to know the basic start and can't find it in all the posts.
Thanks!

Ecmspy is a must have with the X1, even if its just for doing tps resets.
The standard race maps that come with the race ecm are an excellent starting point if your bike has aftermarket exhaust/filters.
Fine tune the maps by datalogging rides then run the data through megalog viewer to fine tune for your set up.
Piece of cake once you've got your head around it.
Read the tunning guide at www.ecmspy.com
Ecmspy is freeware, you'll need the cable to connect to the bike and its drivers, often sold on ebay and comes with ecmspy thrown in.

Just to add, ECMSPY also allows you read and reset trouble codes and many other features...

Awesome, great info to get started with! Does tuning the stock FI show a big difference in response and power?

For me the most noticeable improvement over the stock set up was switching to a V&H slip-on, Forcewinder intake and loading the Race maps. It (almost) totally eliminated the dip in torque between 2500-3000 rpm. There are better slip-on mufflers out there but mine came with the V&H. Fortunately I also got the stock muffler and was able to do back to back experiments.
