Thinking about it.. what kind of mods will I have do to the controls? Would it be worth switching the a hydro clutch at this point? | ||

Yeah, See how much he wants for them and what kind they are. So for I've seen about 4 different versions of clip-ons for this bike. | ||

While clip-ons have great looks, the "manta" tank of an M2 makes mounting them precarious. If your bike tips over with bar ended mirrors and clip-on handlebars, look for serious damage to your harder-to-find-every-day fuel tank. Also, you'll need to install new cabling to retain the already dubious clutch feel of the vintage sportster motor. Just keep the "sit-up-and-beg" bars. They are comfortable and cost $30 if a mishap occurs. After all these years I've a newfound appreciation for just how good the stock equipment on Buells is. This is all my opinion, but I'm trying to save you a couple bucks and a big pain in the ass. It's your scoot! | ||

@Genesisclimber - I feel ya. I went to "clip on" style bars (they weren't really clip-ons). Uncomfortable, unsafe (for the sort of riding I do) and I really had to watch out for the tank (at full lock they'd hit it). I am currently running the stock setup and love it. To each his own I guess. | ||

I have the crossroads for the Manta tank M2. I love them as far as riding position. I prefer them to the stock bar and riding position. I never felt the M2's weight was placed right. The front wheel always felt "floaty" and that I couldn't trust it in turns. When I replace the handlebars with the Crossroads, it just seemed to click. It moved my weight further forward over the front wheel and provided a more stable front wheel. The 7* angle bars work fine with the Manta tank. I think clip ons will push you too far forward making the bike uncomfortable to ride. In order to clear the tank and provide a comfortable angle, your clip ons will place your hands nearly half way to the bottom triple. That's pretty low. I'd go with the Crossroads. I didn't have to make any modifications to the control systems. Just bolt on and go. | ||

I have Convertabars on my "01 M2 and love them. These bars were on my friends M2 when he went down doing 70mph on the highway. Bars are strait, just some scratches on the end of the bar, so they crash well. Very adjustable for comfort or sporty riding. I have no problems with them hitting the tank.  | ||

I also run Crossroads on the M2 now. Had them on the S1W but didn't really like 'em there...but on the M2 with a REAL SEAT, I love 'em! I did have to attach a section of radiator hose to the frame on either side where the forks hit, to reduce my turning lock and keep the bars out of the tank...but other than that, they went right on. | ||
