Hey fellas,Here it is - 1998 S1W - Hurricane filter and VH slip on - goes like the clappers and so on and so forth BUT....Im experiencing something weird. When the engine is hot, it sounds like its lugging in 1st gear. Whats all that about? I dont have any gear problems - but why the lugging noise? You guys out there are awesome with your help so Im hoping I can get the good oil on my problem. Be safe

Lugging, or pinging? If it's pinging, you may want to richen up your slow jet. Did you rejet after you put on the new exhaust?

I'm assuming it only does this when starting out from a dead stop. Yes?

Like Hootowl said, if it's pinging when leaving from a stop, you may check your jetting. Mine used to ping when hot and leaving from a stop. Checking my jetting revealed that the HD dealer had installed a 165 or 170 main jet, which was WAY too small. This was after they had talked me into a Dynojet kit.

If you provide a little more information, I'm sure one of our experts will chime in and lead in you in the right direction.

Jet Size! - Guys, Im hitting a flat spot at high RPM and now wondering about jet size? If 170 is too small, what size should richen it up?
