Posted this in the Knowledge vault but didn't get any hits so I thought I would try here. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. Hi guys, Did a dumb thing, stripped out the phillips heads on my frt master cylinder cover. Got them loose with an impact driver but can't find a part number for new ones. The kid at the Harley dealer would sell me screws as part of a kit containing the cover, the gasket and screws, but said that the screw part number was not listed as a stand alone part number. Does anyone know a part number of the screws or the exact size so I can look elsewhere? B.T.W. 2000 S3T- Thanks all! | ||

if you post, someone has to see it and reply.....if you search, you find all previous related posts btw, why not take the screw to a real hardware store (not loews, home depot, etc) and let someone solve your problem? | ||

Newbuellertoo, they are 4mm x .70mm x 12mm length. Most Fastenal stores have them in flat head socket screw (hex key wrench). | ||

Newbuell, If that's a Nissin master cylinder like on my '98S3T I have a whole box of stainless steel screws for that purpose. To check if it's the same the word "Nissin" is cast into the front face of the master cyl. If so, PM me your name and address and I'll send you some. Thanks for the responses. There are a couple of fasteners businesses fairly close by. I'll give them a shot. I'll for sure try to get an allen head. Much more durable than the phillips on the originals. Someday, thanks very much for the offer, it's not a Nissin reservoir though. | ||

Jramsey, Took your advice and went to the local fastenal store. The guy opened a bag and gave me two for free. Said it wasn't worth the paper work to charge for two screws. I'm back in business. Thanks for all of the advice guys!  | ||

Remember when you install them, they don't need to be very tight. If the rubber seal is distorting outward, probably too tight. | ||

Thanks Shane, I'll just snug them up and check them now and then! The weather is finally going to be warm and dry enough to get out this weekend. Can't wait, but too much sand still on the roads to really let go. |
