Hey guys, sometimes I just do stupid things for no reason. The other night I was messing with ecmspy and did the little diagnostic tests on the coils and then, stupidly, on the fuel pump....basically it ran the fuel pump for about a minute, with the bike not on, with the fuel going nowhere.... then the next day I rode it the plugs fouled out really badly, changed em out and it ran good to get home, but still fouling/sputtering at the 4k mark. Then I got off the highway and it was cutting out really badly like it does when the fuel filter is messed up. Picked up a new fuel filter (napa 3032) and installed it, I cranked it up tonight and gas came from somewhere(hose coming from tank to fuel line). I took it around the block and no gas leaked but its still sputtering at 4k. I am currently running with no muffler on the bike so I'm sure that is the main cause of all my running issues, but I wanna make sure.

Thanks guys....its really getting me down when I am working at cycle gear and all these guys come in who have been riding their japanese bikes all day for 100-150 or more miles and I worry if my x1 is going to just make it the 25 miles to work and struggling to keep 75-80 on the highway... am I being the weak link by trying to work on it myself or the fact that i'm rather large???

1. messing with ecmspy

2. currently running with no muffler on the bike

There are 2 potential issues/causes right there, without even getting into the fuel issue.

I've run the diagnostics a few times before, including the fuel pump, with no issues, so i don't think that is your cause. You should definately get a pipe on the bike though and see if you have any issues after that.

The fuel pump test thing WONT mess your bike up.
I have done the test a few times on my S3 while not running and then cranked it and it ran fine.

If the crank is positioned just right and you test the injectors before testing the coils you'll be in for a fart/kaboom surprise.

lol, about the fart kaboom, I cranked it up last night after the fuel filter install and it gave me a real nice blue flame out of the pipe...lol

Well I just hooked up ecm spy and the afv was at 135, which is where I set the max afv on the bike. I also had the o2 sensor on (its been known to be faulty, have a new one waiting to go in)I have been running with the o2 off and the afv set at 110 and reading the plugs to verify the bike has been running ok. Anyway i've set it back to 100% and when I get some time tomorrow I'll crank it and warm it and do a proper tps reset. I've got my supertrapp on order, I've still gotta get the hanger retrofit and the z bracket, and those pesky exhaust isolators before I can put my pipe on...I guess I will hold off on riding it much til then, unless I jerry rig the v&h to hold it on (rear welds broke..nothing to hold it up in the back)

anyway knowing that I didn't screw something up by screwing with ecm spy makes me feel better...also knowing the afv was high affirms the plugs fouling out.

Oh yeah, I know the o2 is bad cause the intake seals are brand new james blue seals and i've been reading the plugs almost after every ride with the 02 off and all is reading fine. Also done to the bike is the buell race intake and re-routed breather mod. Lastly I have the race ecu in there as well..

I used large diesel exhaust clamps and a home made bracket that the clamps would slip over hold up the rear of the can. I also used this same set up to hold up my old super trap can. Then i went with a full D&D race pipes set up. The best thing about the D&D system is its in 3 different pieces. I had no luck with the factory header, It was always snapping off my exhaust studs under heavy throttle (Way to much vibration).
