So here are a few new things I've just finished working on my bike.

Some stuff just needs to be polished and anodized now.

Enjoy

I would think the idler would put more tension on the driveline then needed when the suspension compresses.

errrrr No.

look again, how ever I wonder if that belt will like bending backwards, keep us posted Foximus I am interested that setup will eliminate the drive line lash while maintaining a some what constant tension
could be a winner with an XB belt.....

on XBs during compression there is a lot of tension on the belt, hence the introduction of the Free Spirits spring loaded tensioner designed to keep the tension consistent. But isn't their supposed to be ALOT of slack on tuber belts? wouldn't this add undue stress? or am I missing the obvious, as all too common?

Heres a full picture of the bike.

On a side note, I noticed the bike has a greater tendency to pull up now. i really did not expect that, the front end is waaay lighter pulling hard out from a turn. There is a bit more rolling resistance as I'm used to running my belt with tons of slack, perhaps as much as 1-1/2" unloaded.
Otherwise its perfectly smooth, and is really neat seeing it spin backwards.

The Tuber belt has the transverse notches in the back side and is a bit of a less rubbery compound, so you can still turn the wheel by hand where as you cant on an XB, And theres really not too much of a backwards bend to it, not a horrible amount.

Overall I just did it, because I liked the way it looked

that happened last night. Immediately after I finished figuring out and adjusting my new billet mirrors and grips. The bike doesnt even have a scratch... well except for a little rash on the derby cover, a destroyed (2nd one in 2 weeks) tail light, and a crushed license plate.

3 cars involved, 2 were totaled. I was front mant and ended up under the Altima.
Rear car was going about 60-65mph or so.
My ankle is a little sore, I crawled out from under the car, and I think I must have just stolen 5 years off the guys life from the look he had on his face.

Here are pictures from 2 seconds ago.

Glad you are ok, that could have been a lot worse. Did you see it coming or did you end up on the pavement before you realized what had just happened?

Definitely saw it coming. My front brake locked up for some reason and I held a rolling endo in the middle of a major road.

Also, concerning what Blks1 and whitetrash were saying. This wont cause undue stress. My tension will be almost constant now. I tried very hard to keep the apex of the pulley (where its actually contacting the belt) directly under the swing arm pivot point. As long as its under the pivot point, I am now free to adjust my belt tension to what I what, as the belt and swingarm have the same radii

Thank you. The mirrors are actually Ducati. I found the chinese manufacturer who builds them and signed up to be a whole sale outlet with them, so now i can buy Duc mirrors for cheap(ish). The bars are ProTaper hi rise, I'm going to powder coat them a wrinkle black when I get more powder. Though I must admit I really want to try the Low Risers first.

I'll take some pictures of mounting soon.

On the bright side, there wasnt a scratch on the new mirrors, grips, or pulley tensioner.

Though my clutch lever did crack off, which is fine, because my Billet short levers should be arriving here today. LoL.

I'm still amazing that with 2 cars totaled I walked out.

Glad that you came out in one piece! The fact that the Buell wasn't damaged badly is just a bonus on top of your luck!

You're insanely lucky.

Or maybe you know exactly how to fall?

So this all happened because your front brake locked up? Did you find out why?

I rotated the handlebars a bit forward (like nudged them) earlier in the night so my mirrors would not tap my tank.

Immediately my brake lever felt awesome, like it had just gotten the best bleed of its life. I rode about 5 miles before it locked up. My best guess is that I dislodged an air bubble and perhaps a piece of dirt made the cylinder stick closed not letting the piston retract back?

These just came in as I was straightening my license plate bracket....

I'm not to fond of the red adjusters next to the gold... I'll probably strip and annodize them gold myself

More expensive neat things coming next week as well...

People can say what they want about those Chinese levers, but I have purchased both CRGs and the cheapies, and see absolutely no reason for the American manufactured part to cost FIVE TIMES as much. I'm more than happy to pay a premium to get the American part in most situations, but pissing $160 down the drain just doesn't make sense.

A buddy of mine had a minor spill just last week shortly after installing the Chinese levers. It hurts a lot less to scuff up a $40 pair of levers instead of a $200 pair.

btw, I like your choice in colors. I have the exact same black w/ red levers on my XT and they work great. You're right though.. the red adjusters do look a little off next to all the gold.
