I read on motorcycle news that you had to work on them every time you rode 2 hours and something else about the wheel bearings had issues.

That is utter crap, I put 700 miles in one day on mine, its a machine, and you must maintain it or it will break...
Do you just get parts from the harley dealer?

Yes you get parts from harley dealers
OR the sponsors here, American Sport Bike is a good place to start,

Welcome to the madness, I am sure that you will enjoy that bike.

Bearings are standard parts, once you've got the numbers off the bearing just call or go in to the local bearing supply and get the replacements for cheap, or upgrade for not much more. Just to answer that question directly.

The X1 White Lightning got that snazzy blue pipe too, and white frame, right?

Looking forward to pics, and welcome.

Yeah it has the blue ceramic coated pipes and white frame, what is the difference between the bikes? It does have the race only ECM too.

The X1 White Lightning was similar to the other X1 special additions done in 99 and 00. Pretty much all cosmetics, though the HPC'd pipe is functional as far as keeping header temp down and improving flow since the exhaust retains heat.

Race ECM is an aftermarket purchase, not standard but usually done with intake and exhaust upgrades.

Once you post pics of the bike we'll be able to tell you what upgrades and options your bike has.

"Put a down payment on it so in a week I will have it!!"

Great to hear. It is very hard not to cave in after a test ride. I knew nothing about Buells and much less an X1. Saw one for sale in someone's front yard. Stopped, took it for a quick spin and the rest is history. And I learned everything I know from the folks on this board...

Belts are the same except '03s

Trapp is great.

No neighbors close find a Drummer.

16-18 disc Trapp will set off alarms on early am rides through the local COUNTRY CLUB HILLS*

*I live in stickville and the CC Hills elite that live behind the gulf course don't seem to care much for my Sunday 7 am wake up call.

I think the car alarm thing has more to do with the vibration than the amplitude of the sound. Multi-level covered parking lots are the best if you are into tripping car alarms...

Very nice.

Heat gun/hair blow dryer will aid in removing the unwanted(HD) decals.

Looks good, congratulations!

When you get tired of the buzzy lollipop mirrors you can go to A.S.B. for Tuono mirrors that give a better image. There are also many bar end types out there that riders here like.

Did they include a tail pack with that Ventura grab rail?

Suggest the just the blow dryer Jramsey recommended - it won't melt the vinyl but will soften the adhesive for easier removal. Goo Gone or Goof Off (my fav) for any remaining adhesive. WD40 will work too. Just follow with some soap and water.

I've been using the longer Dyna filter on my bike for many years now, the black is less expensive and blends nicely with our motors.

Question - I thought ALL X1's had black cases, but the cam cover above is the silver sandcast one. Was this another "special feature" of the X1W, anyone?

We did not get the case but did get the other bar if you want to take the rack part off. Also got the owners manual, shop manual, brake pads and spacers for the front and rear bearings.

Can only guess, but my X-1W has silver cam and primary covers, and silver crankcase.

Don't have a parts book to confirm, but I believe the silver bits are part of the package .....

We got it home Friday pm and he noticed it was too full of oil and had puked it out under the seat and the oil was kinda yellow looking so yesterday he got a syringe and sucked out a solo cup full of oil. He got the oil and filter from the Harley dealer but the filter looks different, so we stopped at a place called the kickstand and got another filter that looks like the one on the bike. I had called our dealer about some parts for my bike and they said the previous owner had just changed the oil so we decided against changing it when we read that a lot of running the bike on short trips and not letting it warm up will cause the oil to turn that color. We then changed out the funky brake fluid, also yellow, and took it out on a 50 mile run. We stopped a couple of times and at one point the check engine light came on so I guess we need to get a cable and software to find out why. And the oil turned back to a normal color after getting warm.

>>>was too full of oil and had puked it out under the seat........
lmao..1'st rite of passage owning a tuber 2'nd is changing rocker box gaskets.

Check the oil after you ride while the oil is hot and before any chance of drain back.

I have always run mine 1/4"-1/2" above the low mark on the stick.

If you want to run the larger Dyna filter that many use its HD # 63812-90
