Every really nice X1, S1 or S2 I find is S1000 to $1500 over KBB or NADA book price and they arent selling. Whats up with that ? I dont mind paying extra for a really nice one but it seems like the Buell owners live in an alternate universe where these are suddenly classics and worth a fortune. Theyre worth what people will pay and thats all. Talked to a guy today that says his 96 S2 came with 103 hp motor with Thunderstorm heads from the factory. Tried explaining to him but no luck

It's a market in flux to be sure.

The 1996 S2 came with a 76hp motor in it. There were no Thunderstorm heads until 1998.

I just got off the phone with a fellow Buell rider. We've discovered a cache of new, never titled, group of Buells and he is at the place now negotiating to buy them all. The ones that pique my interest are the new zero mile S1 Lightnings.

Some Buells seem to sell way lower than they should . . others higher. . but you nailed it . . .it's wherever a buy and a seller meet.

Thats what I tried to tell him but I was told I didnt know what I was talking about. I said someone may have put them on but they didnt come from Buell on a 96. He said he had 6 harleys & had been riding for 32 years. Didnt have the heart to tell him Id been riding for 53 years. Id have agreed with him but then we'd both be wrong. Great book by the way.

My jaw drops and drool spills out (there's surely a smiley for that).

That and $1.25, and he can buy a small coffee at 7-11. : )

I actually sent him this and he still believes he has the 103 HP engine. I give up. I told him who Court was too but apparently he knows more about Buells the Court does. I know I dont.

He has come down from 6K. What is a nice S2T worth?

Is it the one in Castle Rock CO????

The 1996 S2Ts in Quick Silver Metallic go for about a million dollars I think... give or take a hundred.

Just kidding of course. I bought one for more than that. 600 more. I also picked one up in Missoula MT for 2K less than that one. Both 96 S2-Ts in Quick Silver.

Personally I would not sell my 1996 S2-T (number 95) for three times that. Of course I am not the smartest guy around.

If it is the one in Castle Rock do you want me to look at it? I will if you are serious about it as I do not want to waste the dudes or my time. I do not know as much as some but think I can make a quick determination about it. (there was one for sale that was a scam but I do not think it is this one at least he is not using a pic of my bike)

Now leave the HD riders alone. You all know that we are all waiting to upgrade to a big twin, right? Again, just kidding. After 25 years on Harleys (shovels and evos I just do not have the patience for self appointed bike experts)

I remember the look on Mr. Buell's face when I told him I replaced my EGlide with a 1996 S2-T. right after I made an ass of myself, note to self, always look around to see who is talking to you and do not correct him on the difference between a T and a non-T

Mtkawboy, I hate to judge a bike by the bluebook price as they seldom reflect the passion or dedication a ride stirs, bottom line is it is worth what someone is going to pay for it, unfortunately for hi,m it may not be his asking price. I have a feeling that 3,900 is going to seem real cheap before too long.

I will reiterate that I am not an expert on these bikes but think I might be able to help you if you want.

phone number is seven one nine - 200 - four nine five seven

If it is not the one in Colorado then disregard.

Hence forward we will call this "the harley effect" kind of like the people that paid 2 grand more for a 100 year anniversary bike thinking it will be worth something someday. That day is most likely 100 years in the future, poor souls.

Like the HD salesman that said my Buell Sweathshirt will be worth some money some day because it said Buell and they went out of business. (do they really think clothes that have a brand on them will be worth money? I don't know)

Thank God for Lynn, the keeper of my temper. Although it would had been funny to see a 145 pound run down Buell rider tear into these guys. (I have gained weight and am getting better so no worries)

Um....I'm gonna call bullshit on that one, sorry Frank : ) You know at least as much as the rest of us do...combined.

Glad to hear you're on the mend. You should fly out to MD in March. I could use a riding buddy from here to Daytona and back for the races

Mtkawboy, you may want to ask him if he has the Signature Series timing cover and other documentation (mini build sheet, letter from Erik Buell), people seem to like having all that documentation with a bike (I do but only have it for one S2T). That would certainly drop the Harley Effect (as valued by a Harley guy or gal, not us).

ALL S2s and S2Ts are signature series bikes. The common response is "I do not think it is a sig series bike"..... It is.

I confess that I did not read the ad closely but know it has been there a while.

Sorry Joe, I would love to ride your S2 down to FL (I would get to ride the S2, right?)

We have had some developments that we need to take care of. Nothing major, nothing that cannot be solved. Nothing medical (for once) and in the big scheme of things just no big deal either.

I do look forward to seeing the pictures as I get prepared to do some maintenance on the S2T for the S2 Gathering. Pictures of Buellers being Bueller will inspire me.

Thank you sir for the offer.

I know that it took years before some S2/S2t's left the dealership and got titled...
At some dealerships custom engines or paint jobs were sold as standard. When I purchased my S2 in 1/95 I had the option to have one that had a lightening bolts painted all over it on a sapphire blue base... The same dealer would performance the engine at purchase so a 103 hp S2 at purchase with a brand new title could happen due to it sitting at the dealer till 1998 or later and having the upgrades installed by the dealer rather than the factory..... I know the same dealership had a mechanic that did a test ride on a 1995 S2 and wrecked it, by the time they put it back together it had many upgrades and was sold as brand new because it had never been titled.....

Do you have to ask?? ; )

I hope everything works out for you. These are...interesting times all around right now.

There will be plenty of pictures. I'll have the 50D for the "arranged" photos, and have a neat little 12MP Canon Coolpix that's smaller than my Blackberry that'll be on me at all times, for "surprise" photo ops : ) I've been impressed with the Coolpix...got it on a whim, all of $80 at BestBuy.

That is funny Frank. I also had to choose between my E-Glide and my S3, and the S3 won. But I still wasn't satisfied until I picked up my S2.

F_skinner, it is the bike in Castlerock, Id appreciate it if you could look at it & not mention me. The thing is Im in Billings Mt so Im looking at another $400 for a room and a 1200 mile roundtrip drive. He came down to $3800 but wont budge, As far as harleys I also own a pretty healthy 95 Fatboy I bought new. I have a dozen other bikes, singles, twins, 4 cyls etc, even a 1948 Whizzer in my bedroom. Thats normal isnt it ?

Scwinn bicycle frame with special flattened non swinging arm {for the leather belt drive} with 175cc engine kit made in 40s & 50s, not the other kind of whizzer, Starts like a bicycle with a compression release and runs about 35 mph

Mtkawboy, Woody, every email I have respond back to you has come back as a "failure to deliver" so I do not know if you got anything I have sent.

I got your email a few minutes ago and want to discuss something with you. Unfortunately, most likely due to my stupidity, I cannot pull up your number on my phone. I do not know why it does not show up in the history but noticed that sometimes it does not do that.

Give me a call when you get the chance.

Hey Frank, I'm not sure if you know how to operate your phone...
You "butt dialed" me today.
I answered, and all I heard was you moving about in what I imagine was your garage. LOL
I listened for awhile, and figured you dialed me by accident, and hung up.
; )

Sure did, tell Debula hello from Lynn and I. I told Lynn about Springfest but she is half asleep curled up with her cats. I will re-attack tomorrow.
