I like it.
Would I buy it? No
Would I build one like it? No.
Still, I like it.

Somehow here we seem to digress more and more to being close minded cynics.

I'm glad Erik didn't have the likes of us during his early work.
Thank you Erik for daring to be different!

The market will decide weather it is worth anything. I note bid 1 has not been placed.

it's not about what he built, it's how he got there. He took a sport bike with some beautiful engineering that there are far too few of, and turned it into an ordinary chopper. There was no need to ruin a perfectly good Buell to make that bike.

I LOVE custom bikes. I own one now and have a couple over the years. Like posted above. It is how he got there. I absolutely hate the gas tank. The rest of the bike is o.k. not super fond of the color scheme

Could we not then say their was no need to ruin a perfectly good XR-1000 Sportster to make a Buell? Should be buy up all the tubers and get those motors back in Sportster frames where they belong?

My point was "we" seem to be intolerant to those who would do things differently.

Many people view this forum who are not members. Owners of these "customs" and Euro styled Buells read our posts condemning their work. Is this who "we" are? Even our own members are subject to ridicule when considering such perversions as using an Iron Head motor.

Forgive me Tom_b for soap boxing on your thread, if your ever this way the steaks are on me.

Under 2 days left still no bids. Look on the bright side the more they chop the more a stocker will be worth in the future. Buy your stocker now and take care of it. I didn't say leave it show room stock just don't butcher it so much that it isn't still a Buell.

I don't care for the bike at all, but the owner paid for it when he bought it and has title to it, so he has the right to do anything he damn well wishes to it even if we see it as wrong.

I like it! Only the teeth and mouth painted on the tank are objectionable to me. Otherwise it's @ss-kicking.

Now that one I like better but couldn't the same thing have been done out of a catalog? I mean why chop up an S1 only to end up with a bike that looks like it came out of a Jireh Cycles catalog?
I know, I know, his title, his bike, his choice but just because you can doesn't mean you should.
And as far as us being close minded cynics, this is a Buell enthusiast website. Same thing goes on on the other sites I visit, actually this one is pretty tame compared to some.

Just to clear the air, all of the XR1000 motors (actually, all HD powertrains) that went into production Buell tube frame motorbikes were never in a bike to begin with. They came off the line at Cap Dr. They were made for or were pulled from storage (the Juneau Ave. warehouse in the case of most of the XR1000s) specifically for Buell. So it is inaccurate to think that a bike was chopped to make a Buell, because that just is not true. On the other hand, chopping a Buell is a real waste. It is truly a case where the parts are not as nice as the whole.

I can't believe he ONLY wants 18 grand for it. And, like all of these pieces of crap, if it's SOOO good, why is he selling it?

Thanks Zenbiker for deflating my metaphor. j/k : )

For the record, I don't like to see any Buells scrapped or chopperized. The point I unsuccessfully tried to convey was everyone has a different idea as to what a good bike consists of and maybe "we" shouldn't be quick to judge ideas that deviate from our own. The greatness of Buell {IMHO} is its nonconformity to standards of design. And if we hail nonconformity how can we also condemn it?

no matter how you feel about altering any motorcycle, this is an ugly conglomeration of line, form, and color....epic fail
