I am moving to Portland, Oregon so I am getting ready for riding in the rain on some nice twisty roads on my M2.

Rain tires sound like a good idea and I am considering Dunlop 616 Ully tires and Avon Pro-xtreme A49 and A50 racing rain tires with soft compound.

I would really like to use the Avons but I have castalloy wheels that are sized for 170s but the Avons only come in 160 and 180 sizes for the rear.

Would I be better off with the 160s or the 180s?

Or, are there other rain tires I should consider?

Thanks,

Dave

Had Avon 180's on my M2 for years. Loved them.

Michelin pilot road2's work great on my S2, even in standing water. There's a new road3 that is supposed to be even better in the wet.

I am running Pirelli Angels and they have been great.

The best wet weather tires I've used are Pirelli Scorpion Syncs.

I would definitely go one size up vs down. Going down in size flattens the profile a bit.

True. I run a 180 rear on my S2 (in the PR2) and it fits just fine. It does tip in a little more aggressively, but I don't dislike it.
