I have come across an odd occurrence with gasoline brands and fuel mileage. I get better gas mileage (consistently 2 to 5 mpg better) when I use a name brand (Chevron) compared to generic (Costco, Love's, etc). The theory I have is that the name brand gasoline has less methanol in it than generic brands. Methanol requires a richer mixture than petrol and due to the DDFI feature of the Buell, it automatically compensates by adding more fuel across the fuel map (via a higher AFV). Hence, a reduction in gas mileage when using higher methanol fuels.

So here's my request:
Fill up your brand (say, Chevron) of gasoline, ride your bike in closed loop learning and check your AFV. Then fill up on a different brand (say, generic) of fuel and do the same and note the AFV. Please share your results or PM me with your data. I'll compile and share the data.

Thanks in advance. Or if someone else has noted anything similar then please share.
