I just put a V&H pipe and race air cleaner kit on my 2000 X1. I also bought a new race ecm from my local dealer. When I installed the race ecm the bike would not start. Put the old ecm back in and it started right up. I wanted the 5000 mile service so I took the bike to the dealer. I figured I would let them try the race ecm as well. No luck. Apparently it is defective (I hear this is fairly common). They didn't have another race ecm and tried to order one. They claim Buell has discontinued the race ecm for the X1. They also claimed that they did a parts search and there are only a few in the country. Those dealers would not sell them to my local dealer (allegedly). Anybody else hear of this? BS? I have checked into the Techlusion box and it won't be available for a few more weeks. Maybe it is just worth the wait but I know that box only allows fuel adjustment and not timing. What do you guys think of the Techlusion box idea? Thanks, Skip

They are correct that the race ECM is no longer available.
There are a few dealers that have them. I am not one of them(bummer)
Have them print out the locator of dealers that have them and then call them yourself and order it. Might want to get two, just in case.
I think Al at Americansportbike has a few also and he is a sponsor of this sight.

Ride to the edge!

Personally...I'd ensure the dealer set the TPS with the Race ECM on the bike before calling the ECM bad.

I just bought a factory race ECM off of ebay the other day. Then went to Harley and spent $85.00 so they could tell me the ECM was bad. This really sucks. So beware of what you’re buying. What is this Techlusion box? Will this replace the factory race ECM or is it like the power commander where you need the race ECM also?

So if there is anybody out there willing to part with a "GOOD" race ECM, please let me know. I really don't want to go to a power commander.

Thanks, Wade (buell_am@yahoo.com)

Techlusion is similar to the PC and you need and ECM for it.

Contact Al at American Sport Bike and/or DaveS at Appleton HD/BMC for a Race ECM. Both are BWB Sponsors. If one is available they will find it.

I bought my spare Race ECM from Dave when the part was discontinued and he found a source then, perhaps still can.

Whoops..Just read DaveS post. Better try Al.
