What is the secret to get these bastards out?

I have used a 1/2" impact (with a lot of balls), and a manual hammer impact and they aren't busting loose. I tried a 1/2" breaker bar with cheater pipe and busted my breaker bar. So what's the secret?

You are talking about the one behind the steering head right? The main center one is if I remember is 3/4 inch open end on the top side and a 3/4 inch socket and extension with a big ass breaker bar on the bottom side. If you are upgrading to the newest isolator, it only requires 70ft/lbs of torque vs the old 100. The smaller ones I have to use open ends on both sides, ( 1/2 inch I believe ) Dumb question but, you are trying to turn it the right way?

If there's loctite on them then put a propane torch to them...

Rear Iso's

Yes I am turning it the right way. The left side ones are left handed threads the right ones are right handed threads. The problem with heating them is they are mounted in the rubber isolator's.

what size breaker bar? I had issues with the lock nuts on the axles of a sports car once, i snapped 2 1/2 breaker bars, so i went up to a 3/4 breaker bar and took them off fine.

What are the new Isolators? Just new bolts, or whole new mounts?

are they much better at dampening, if they are new mounts?

Rear Iso bolts are right hand threads.

5/8"x 18 NF to be exact.

63-70 ft. lbs. is factory torque spec.

Both bolts are not right handed threads according to the manual. The left side bolt is left handed threads.

I am taking the swingarm off. Well attempting to anyways.

From the FSM pg. 2-45
#3 Bearing Adjustment Bolt(Left, Threaded)not left hand thread.

The left side adjustment bolt is (RH)threaded internally the right side is smooth bored, the bearing pre-load is adjusted with the long bolt that goes through them.

When looking in the threaded hole for the right Iso bolt you will see about 1"deep a socket head cap screw that the manual calls a threaded rod, remove this bolt and then you can pull the adjuster bolts.

What the manuals author named an adjuster bolt should be called Shoulder Bushings, one with internal threads, the other with a clean hole.

If you're replacing the isolators then who cares if they get charred. Put the heat onto the bolt head.

They used thread locker on mine.
What I ended up using to pop it was a breaker bar and a 4 pound hammer.

Those things are crazy hard to start but will go OK once underway.

I could have sworn that both of mine were right hand threads.

I saved my old bolts and will check them in the morning for thread direction, seems like they both turned the normal direction, I don't know why they would use other than standard directional threading for this hardware...

As I recall, mine were held in with rust, and they had used plenty of it too. Three foot breaker with a 1/2" socket fitting, and a bit of force got them loose.

Yeah, the old bolts are standard thread.

Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey.

Manual just explains it differently than you would I guess. Sometimes, even when we all speak the same language, we still don't understand one another. This seems to happen even more over the internet than it does "in the real world".

That explains the busted breaker bar....
And, wouldn't it help to get the load off the bearings/bolts by lifting the rear wheel off the ground? Just asking...

"What are the new Isolators? Just new bolts, or whole new mounts?"

There is a new and improved (and cheaper) front ISO assembly now available. Apparently one of the last product improvement initiatives before folding the Buell tent. Contact Al @ American Sport Bike and he'll tell you all about it.
