I finally spent some quality time with the Buell, getting it ready for the 1250 kit and stage 2 heads. The disassembly process going smooth so far, just one more head and cylinder to pull.

Here's a shot of the rear cylinder head and the piston. I've never taken apart an HD before so I didn't know what to expect.

This is from a 2001 X1 with Race ECm, Force Winder intake and a couple different type of Slip-ons

Does this look typical?

Looks pretty standard to me, especially after 45K. Personally I would polish the heads of the new valves just try and slow the carbon build up on them, but that's just me.

Those rings are pretty tired. The oil wash is keeping the carbon from sticking to the piston crown. You'll probably notice lots of oil/blowby varnish on the ringlands and below the rings as well.

Good eye Jos51700, I missed it on the quick scan of the pics at first.

Thats absolutely correct, the puke tube always filled.

Funny the front shows no sign of oil wash. is that because the rear cylinder is hotter or is this purely a ring issue?
