I hadn't noticed this until I had my m2 on the rear stand this weekend. If put my bike in gear then pull in the clutch lever I noticed that I cannot spin my rear wheel. It feels like my clutch is dragging or not disengaging ( or engaging, I get those mixed up).

The bike is not
stalling when at a stop with clutch pulled in. I didn't realize it at the time it happened, but if the bike is in neutral and I try to start the bike it won't start because the in-gear safety switch prevents it. I know it's in neutral because I can roll the bike.
I have no problems finding neutral
I have adjusted the clutch according to the fsm and my primary chain according to Buellistic (thanks). The primary oil only has ~4k on it.

Could this be a grenade plate issue? Or do I still not have the clutch adjusted properly?

This is a 1999 m2 with almost 15k on it.

Any ideas?

i just noticed one more thing that might be a clue. If I put the bike in neutral and start it, it sits there fine. Then I shift into 1st with clutch pulled in (of course), its fine and it will take off like there was no issue. If I then stop the engine when the bike is in gear or not, then shift it into gear (if it wasn't), then pull in the clutch, I see the issue again. When the bike is on the ground with the clutch pulled in and it is in gear, I can not roll it at all.

Wet CLUTCH'es have a slight amount of DRAG !!!

If you have not removed the SPRING PLATE(aka "GRENADE PLATE"),now is the time) ...

PM me and "i" will sent you some CLUTCH "INFO" ...

COULD BE:

A simple clutch adjustment

Bad THROW OUT BEARING PN 8885

Bad SPRING PLATE PN 37977-90

Bad CLUTCH BASKET BEARING PN 36799-91

Any bad bearing that you have can be bought at your local BEARING SUPPLY ...

Aways ask for the best bearing off you bearing part number that is on your bearing(you are buying a new bearing, so why not buy the BEST) ...

Mine started to do that twice:

#1 the clutch cable was just about to pop with only three strands remaining at the lever.

#2 that spring plate ("grenade plate") wore out and allowed the little brass rivets to jam in the plates.

If you drill a small oil hole in the lever above the cable end and keep it LUBE'ed you will not break off cable ends ...

My X1 has a good bit of drag in neutral too. In fact every bike I've owned had about the same amount of drag so I always assume it was normal. Now if it were a dry clutch set up then I would start to worry.

I'm not so worried about the drag that I get in neutral. That was just an observation..
Its more that the clutch doesn't seem to be let the rear tire loose if the bike is not running and is in gear. If the bike is not running and I shift it into gear, pulling in the clutch will not allow me to roll it. I can hear that the transmission is still engaged. My shifting seems to be okay.
While riding the bike it seems that everything is okay. I can shift into neutral at a stop light and the bike doesn't stall. This just happens when the bike is not running.

If the engine has set like over night and cooled down, you have to brake the wet clutch apart ...

ie: put it in gear with out the engine running rocking it with the clutch pulled until the clutch brake's loose ...

Another trick is putting it in neutral before you stop because of it being a wet clutch ...
