getting ready to do XB rocker box conversion on my 99 m2. my question is in regards to head breathers, do they get blocked off or do i still leave them functional? Has anyone experienced any problems with this conversion? is it worth the time, money, and effort to do this? thanks for input.

The stock breathers in the heads will need to be blocked off. Just use regular bolts to mount the carb instead of the breather bolts that are there now.

You should not have problems, as it is a design improvement over the original breather setup, and it decreases your number of gasketed joints. Your breather lines will be better concealed.

Having said that, if you ream out the oil drain holes and chamfer the umbrella valve openings, and use new umbrellas, and route and vent your breather tubes well, the stock system works, too. Don't feel obliged to do the change. It won't make the bike go faster or handle better.

It dose offer better OIL PUKING CONTROL as the BREATHER is at a HIGHER POINT and the UMBRELLA VALVES go bad quickly due to the head temperature cooking the live out of them ...

Did mine as a PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT ...

Thanks everyone for the info. I don't expect more horsepower or better control. getting ready to tear down top end for a base gasket leak, so was thinking of doing mod while it's apart.

I did it on my '99 M2 a while back. Shouldn't be any trouble. You'll have to grind one of the front corners down a little to fit the XB cover because of the motor mount, not a problem though.
