I just need to go get it. My plans for the motor are a 1250 kit, Mikuni 42 carb and head work... This is going to be fun.

I have putting off the dash design but I better get on it. I am going to use Veypor for the instrument panel.

Nice score, Frank!

The shape of the Veypor is similar to the newer buell logo. Would it be blasphemy to sprinkle a couple of those on an S2?

I do not know Roger.

The dash design is going to be hard because I will have some other features but have not worked out the details yet.

I am still running a lot of things over in my head. Dependability will be key so no 89 inch kit.

Since I will be building the motor (in pieces right now) I will go with the 1250 kit from NRHS and a 42 Mukuni so it can breath.

I do not know if I will get 100hp rear wheel but attention to detail is the key. I imagine I will be talking to Dan Dunn at NRHS a lot.

I am just glad I found a motor and will not feel bad about killing a Buell to make this S2 monster.

Ross, that makes me feel better. I actually have been gathering (hoarding) parts for this for about a year when I got the frame.

Frank. . . if memory serves, the answer should be Thunderbolt heads.

Frank is getting the whole bike, so he'll have an S3 frame in the garage. I suggested he build a land speed bike with it and sent him a link to some reasonable pushrod records. If any of you want to encourage him, and crew for him a Bonneville some year, please do. Is there a remnant of the Elves out there?

ThunderSTORM heads.

.536 should be a good streetable cam, decent powerband, no real dips or peaks. Personally...I love my thunderstormed S2 with plain ol' stock X1 cams. XB cams are also a nice runner in a 1200...but with a 1250 I think 536's will be a good choice.

Thunderstorm motors came with a few different cams - there was the S1W, a good powerful hi-mid RPM cam. The S3T was a little midrangey-er. X1 had good all-over cams, and the M2 has basement-torque but not much top end power ("beginner" Buell, remember?).

I never like to go too radical on cam profile, unless I'm drag racing (i.e. throttle = on/off switch). You just get too many peaks and valleys. I'm also not a fan of the 42Mik for the same reason. I love my CV's - nice and progressive, less of a "light-switch" feel to them. If I did anything that needed a bigger carb, I'd go with a big CV before a Mik.

But that's just me.

And I have to ask....a *chrome* sidestand? Really? LOL

Hopefully Wilson will contact me about the 536 cams. It will get a 1250 kit although I keep thinking about the 88 inch kit. That would require some boring on the cases but lucky for me I have a Buell performance shop about 120 miles North of me.

And Joe, I think the HD (spit) law requires one piece of chrome... But seriously, with the hammer blue side plates it looks good. bling bling...

I just got to find the time to go get it. Money and time off is a little short.

You have a piece of chrome.

Trip reset knob : )

Good luck on the build. Cammed and built correctly, the 1250s can make great power and make it EVERYwhere in the rev's. If I ever break one to the point I have to do that much to it, I'm going 1250, XB heads, not sure on cams just yet, larger CV, and a Baker 6.

Hope I don't break anything like that. It'll be expensive, but I don't do things halfway....

"Trip reset knob"

I don't think so. It is push button...

Gotta call ya on the cams,Joe! S1W, S3T, and X1 were the same cam but for the tooth pitch.
And now I'm off for a 300 hundred mile ride to retrieve the broken lower belt guard I threw in the ditch.
