The original Buell Quest unit and mount. Has anybody mounted and wired this to an X1? K

I did it on my S1. It works. Tapped the Quest power leads into the gauge backlighting so if something pops, I only lose nighttime gauge visibility.

Flip-out antenna has to stick under the flyscreen a bit...but it works.

I also used an old HD CB microphone mount plate to put a Quest cradle on my S2 (HD hand controls on the S2). Also wired to gauge backlighting.

CR has a home-made plate mounting the cradle to the bar clamp (I bought a spare so I could drill into it and keep the original).

All the bikes have cradles; I just pop the Q2 from bike to bike depending on what I ride : )

I picked up power from orange/white ( gauge lights ) to power the powered bike cradle, I have a ram mount, with a ball on the x1 and the 25, the cradle has a plate and ball and about a 6" ram link ( split with a knob and spring

I used a radio shack molex plug on the bike and cradle each bike has a plug
so the cradle unplugs and the mount and cradle move, my mount is outboard of the dash

cool thanks Will the original Buell quest mount for the ULY fit the handlebars on the X1? I just picked up a spare one new in the box. I really liked the locking design of it. I used to ride around with a Quest bicycle mount on the X1R and I was always afraid of it vibrating out, it just clipped in
I'm gonna follow your wiring suggestions.
yes lets see the photos! Thanks

I'll get the pix up tonight, I am not sure but it makes sense that the uly mount would, "assuming" that it fits the bars not the cross bar.

I used the Buell mount for a Uly, on my S1. 7/8" bar, similar controls, same boltholes. Only thing I didn't do, because I didn't use the correct harness (didn't have one, so fabricated one for power only) was install the headphone jack. It looks like it'd fit...but since I wired it for power only...

molex connectors 2 pin 1 male on cradle, female on bike gender is determined by electrical pin

back view of ram mount, nice point on this, the mount can be re-used on another device with some simple metal work ( aluminum adaptor plate ) the ram hardware is sturdy and easily adaptable. also the mount allows me to turn the screen into the sun which helps readabillity (for me)

the unit can be placed nearly any where this same setup can be squeezed onto my 1125 as well
