Is the exhaust stud a 5/16 x 24 tpi? I am thinking of using some connector nuts, drilled on the ends for safety wire, to secure my headers. | ||

18 tpi in the head,24 tpi for the nut. | ||

You may want to consider having the heads modified to accept larger studs and nuts. I had a problem with the studs snapping off and also the nuts kept coming off. | ||

Torque it in the right sequence, and to the right value, with the right nut (a flange nut with serrated flange)...they won't come off. Mine don't, anyway. And it's not because I don't run the bikes hard LOL. | ||

Im not sure mine have the serrated flange and they dont come off. I think something has to be wrong with the bike to continually snap exhaust studs | ||

"Everyone here always says torque in sequence and they wont come off" I have had 3 different types of exhaust system and have tried everything from locktite to different hard wear to keep it on and nothing worked, Except larger studs. | ||

I have had 3 different types of exhaust system and have tried everything from locktite to different hard wear to keep it on and nothing worked, Except larger studs. That still doesn't say anything about how you're installing any of the exhausts, or what you're torquing them to. I've had stock headers, Race headers, stock mufflers, race mufflers, V&H mufflers, and Supertrapps. Have yet to break anything. What "Everyone here" says...there must be something to it. |
