After much au'do from a previous thread, I give you the SLC S3T!

I wish I had a camera when I picked this bike up. It was Detailed to Show Room perfection! But after 1600+ miles of open road through Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana, it ended up looking like this:

But a little Soap-n-Water, and it was pretty nice again!

The bike is Much Nicer than I had imagined, and runs like a Scalded Dog! Not real Torquey like the Cyclone, but a bit more Rev-Happy. This bike also had a few goodies I wasn't expecting, like the Carbon-Fiber rear fender!

And an Oil Cooler!

After-marker mirrors, upgraded grips. Just little things like that...

Well, enough Jabbering, Here's the SLC S3T!!!

Ahhh! The Crank ventilation was capped off! We had to fabricate a breather system. We un-capped it, and added a hose with a filter at the end of it, as seen it the Bug encrusted intake! I'll re-Cap it when I add the XB Rocker boxes. Looks pretty cool!

Also it was blowing trans oil out the back. So we added an inline Fuel Filter to slow the flow!

Didn't want it to Ventilate the battery, so I added some insulation between the two pieces. It's a piece of tubing rolled open.
\

The XLNT Corbin Seat! It has 3 seating positions that I could find. Up against the tank for Aggresive riding, in the middle for Putting around town, and back in the Saddle for Highway Cruising! Pretty comfortable, although my wife slides off of her Perch pretty easily...(Needs more @$$!)

Nice Backrest!

And the main reason I wanted this bike! (Besides the fairing!) The bags!

Tires had <100 miles on them when I started the trip, and the bike had under 8500 on the clock. You can see the Chicken track on the D220 already, and the clock sits at 10,124 now.

Yeah! I was next in line on the Kentucky bike. The next closest (Reasonable!) '01 - '02 S3T was in SLC.

Thanks for the Kind words and Seals of Approval. This is the bike I shuold've bought in the first place. The Cyclone is a Brute, and great fun to ride. But the T-Bolt seems more to suited to my needs and less aggressive riding style as of late. My SLC brother wants my Cyclone, so it looks like I pretty much have this project Funded!

I want to add the XB rockers, and maybe find a Pegasus seat, and I think this bike is complete! I didn't realize there was a 12V power supply on the dash! Maybe some electronic Gadgetry is in order as well.

Great bike! Crank up the rear shock preload for riding two up. I left mine on the soft side with bad results. Rear tire rubbed a hole through the oil tank. Looks like a Penske and new oil tank are in my future now.

Small price for having her get you to the coolest places

Loren, did the tire rub the oil tank, or was it the inner fender that did the damage to the tank?

By the way I have Corbin on my S3T, and really like it, but I had mine made with the riders cutout moved further forward then the factory Corbin one which it appears you have.

Had the inner fender been removed? It **should*I have captured the errant tire, acting as a barrier between the tire and the oil bag.

The fender was on it but banged up from the tire rubbing on it. I am not sure of the cause but I am thinking rear isolators..

The rear tired rubbed through the inner fender and then went to work on the oil tank.

I think the rear shock is just not stiff enough for hard two up riding. It was high spend bumps and dips in the road that caused the suspension to max out and the tire rubbing. I looked the rear isolators over and they look okay. I never felt any excessive vibrations either, so I hope the isolators are fine.

The seat is my work.

Very nice find, Anthony!! It looks like it's been well taken care of, and all the extras make it that much better. All the best with your new bike. I'll have to make it down south soon to see it in person.

I guess all 1600+ mile went really smooth, no bugs along the way.

That's a really nice looking bike.

Looks great, congratulations! I think I may have seen that for sale in the local ads.

When your brother gets that Cyclone from you kindly direct him to the Utah Buellers section of the Storm Fronts, we can use all the local riders we can find for our little group.

Anthony, first VERY nice S3!
Good catch, enjoy the heck out of it..

One thing you said in your first post caught my attention.
You said that the tranny was spitting a lot of oil out so you put in the filter to slow it down.
You need to check the tranny oil level right away. Have you noticed your engine oil level dropping?
You may have a bad crank seal that is letting engine oil into the tranny. This will raise the level enough that it spits out the tranny breather.
I didn't see what year the S3 is, if it's an 02, the seal is probably OK as they used the newer double lip seal on those (if I remember correctly).

Changing the seal isn't a big deal plus it gives you a chance to check the primary tensioner and such.
Just something to check out before you get too far down the road....

Thanks Brad,
I didn't say it was leaking a LOT of oil, only that it was blowing trans oil from the tranny. About 4 drops to be exact. But the 4 drops ended up on my fender / Right blinker, so I added the filter to work as a catch can of sorts. (Works Great BTW!) Not a drop more since.

There are no cracks, the trans oil level is perfect, the engine used less than 4 Oz's of oil over 1600+ miles, and there are no bad seals.

This '01 bike was completely gone through before I hit the road, and was given a Clean bill of health. Thanks for the concerns / heads up though. I certainly intend to enjoy the Heck out if!

Hey Tony! I noticed yesterday during our ride but forgot to mention it to you but you can put a longer oil- filter on the S3T and the Cyclone if you are interested! It holds a little more oil than the stock one! It is the same filter that the HD- Dyna series uses. You can get black or Chrome, Which ever you like best!

Hmmm...I thought the S3T had the Bigger filter. Maybe not.

The M2L is due for maintenance, so that is definitely on the To Get list. Too bad it doesn't come in Orange!

Great ride BTW! I's pretty cool seeing your bike in action!
