Okay, so I admit I'm a bit anal retentive - so I have the FI intake body off to replace leaking intake manifold seals and I'd like to disassemble the 3 piece throttle body (inlet / throttle plate / manifold).

I've removed the retention plate and I've tried twisting, pulling, wd-40, penetrating oil, etc, but I can't get them pulled apart.

Any suggestions?

The throttle plate screws are garfed up on purpose to keep them from backing out.
I think removing them is a bad idea.

those throttle bodies are a pita to get apart. You can use a screwdriver to pry them apart just try not to damage the inner lip where the seal actually sits. It is easier to get the front part of it off if the assembly is still attached to the intake and bike. Get rid of the retention plate screws and get some good Allen head screws\bolts. Also if i was you i would get a new screw for the fuel rail, that one can be a real pain also.

Oh and when you re-assemble the parts you better get it straight before you press them together or you will be doing it again.

Ask me how i know!

Since you have the whole assembly off the bike you could probably use a table mounted wise and cover the grips with a soft cloth and work it loose. I had to replace my throttle body a while back (broken shaft) with the manifold still on the bike and had hell of a time doing it.
If you decide going down the "pry with a screwdriver" route, remember that the pieces are quite soft and get chipped easily. And you'll probably end up damaging the lipped-seal. I listened to what Prey said when I did mine. I personally would not mess with it unless I had to.
