My front brake needs a bit more force on the lever to get the full stopping power and I noticed that the inside pad is only touching just about 60% middle portion of the rotor surface - the 20% rotor surface near the top and bottom edges are real dark vs. the center which is shiny. The rotor surface does feel uniform to the touch. Is this a symptom of the two end pistons not moving properly? Thanks for any insight. | ||

Yep, sounds like a few stuck pistons - the first symptom is a spongy brake lever. Pull out the pads and slowly press the brake lever and see how evenly your pistons come out. All 6 should come out evenly. If not, force the stuck pistons out a bit (use a wooden block to hold the other pistons in place). Then THOROUGHLY clean the pistons and seals. Push all the pistons back in and repeat. If that's too much work then purchase a rebuild kit from Al. | ||

mine was similar when i first got it,i thought the brakes were crap..... After bleeding 3 times, having the caliper off numerous times(changing bearings X2 and tyres) compressing the pistons each time and cleaning em they freed up nicely. Now i know the brakes aren't crap they're pretty damn good actually... | ||
