While tracking down a lead from my primary side, I found the rear muffler hanger is broken.

I looked in the parts book and see that my 2001 had what's listed as "65505-98Y Z Bracket".

My bike has a Vance & Hines slip on and the hanger is "U" shaped. Anyone know if this is this a Vance & Hines part or is it an updated Buell part?

Also, as long as I'm taking off the primary cover to replace the gasket, I'm going to replace the shifter shaft oil seal (not leaking but it's 8 years old), the clutch spring plate with two steel and a friction plate, put in the '06 Uly spring and check the tensioner & wires. Anything else I should do while I'm in there?

It's a Vance & Hines bracket, comes with the muffler.

If you have the Vance an Hines you should remove the Z bracket and attach the U bracket to the rubber bushings that the Z bracket will attach too.

If your U bracket was bolted to your Z bracket you will notice that the pipe angles down towards the ground instead of being flush with the engine.

should look like this

That answers the question.

No "Z Bracket" on mine, just the "U". The left side of the "U" broke off. Started at the top edge of the weld at the back and went forward along the top of the weld. Last half inch at the front it turned up 45 degrees.

Anyone have a spare around?

That would be great! Good news is V&H said they were inexpensive. Bad news is that they are NLA.

I'd appreciate it if you take the time to look.

Thanks,
Andrew
