Tried to start my S2 and all I hear is a faint click. No starter. I looked for the starter relay and the picture in the manual is not exactly clear. Is this a bad relay problem? Also, where is the thing?

Probably time to rebuild the solenoid in the starter. There's a good, recent thread on this here in old school.

Battery is good, no voltage drop when attempting to start, all lights working fine. Will check the ground connection tonight. Will look at the testing procedure in the manual for the solenoid.

Run 12 volts right to starter and see if it spins, and check to see that your solenoid wire is connected,it can come off at times.

+1 on FMJ's advice. Get a 1/4 female spade connector, attach to 2' of wire, attach an alligator clip to the other end and voila! a jumper to run from the battery to the starter to eliminate the possibility of glitches at the switch, selenoid, breaker, etc.
My most recent starting problem turned out to be a loose connection at the breaker.
BTW, I've two bikes, one 19 years old with 85k miles and one 16 years old with 70K miles. replaced one relay, fixed many loose connections. Neither has yet had a starter failure. YEMV.

Problem solved. Sat and looked at the starter and found the wire with the spade connector DISCONNECTED. It was zip tied a bit too tight to the frame and worked itself out.
Put it back in and it started right up.

Thanks for the help I am prepped for a REAL failure next time.

Glad you got that figured out. I had the same problem about a year ago...
