Hello, all,

For those that replaced the original VR with that from cycle electric:
What did you do with the ground wire coming off the harness? There is no place to tie it to on the replacement regulator body.

Put it between the VR and the mounting bracket under the bottom mounting bolt.

Thank you, Jramsey. Do we still need this wire, though, considering the CE VR functions differently from the stock?

Yep the VR body needs the ground wire attached, don't know why the Cycle Elec isn't drilled and tapped for the ground wire like the oem.

I used a Dremel with a stone and cleaned off around the lower bolt hole for good contact then sandwiched the eyelet between the bracket and the VR.

I think there is enough meat in the corners of the body for me to attach the wire directly to VR. Even though this will void the warranty.

My understanding is the VR is grounded through the contact of the body to the bracket and hence the frame. The wire just makes the grounding more reliable.

"The wire just makes the grounding more reliable"

Correct because its the wiring harness ground.

The warranty papers that came with mine stated it was 2 years unconditional so long as you didn't beat it with a rock or use a drill on it.

I do like they way it works by blocking excess voltage instead of sending it to ground like the oem, less heat in the stator windings.

BTW I replaced the oem # 10 harness eyelet with 1/4". clip/strip/crimp/done.

I think this is the best idea, to attach a 1/4 inch ID connector to the wire.

BTW, the VR seems to work fine with the wire hanging off. That is, till the vibration loosens the VR body from the frame, I guess.

Thanks for the advice.
