You have to have four frickin' arms to get it to seat in the little groove in the primary case. |

Something I have found useful is to wipe both the groove and the ring with a clean shop towel, then apply 4 small globs of axle grease to the ring, then install. The grease acts like a kind of glue, holding the ring in place. |

i found mine installed easy,just clipped it in the little retaining lugs and it stayed put. |

I think the seal I have just needs to be replaced. I'll get one next time at the dealership. |

I used a thin layer of hylomar. It acts like glue and provides a nice seal. It remains over time so each time I need to get in there again it stays put with no need to re-apply. |
