I have a 99S3 with the S3T luggage mounts, and I don't really want to spend $400 + for a set of used S3 luggage.Has anyone successfully adapted any other brands to the stock mounts?

Terry - I've wondered about that myself. I know some mount their bags with u-bolts, in an attempt to get a more durable connection. I guess you could do that with just about any bag with a flat inner face. The problem I see is that any bag worth having is going to be expensive! (check out the prices on Uly bags). So in that case, you will spend as much and not have the stock bags, which have the versatility of switchable narrow and wide lids.

I did that on BSA with typewriter carry cases years ago. used conduit and bender for sub-frame and U-bolts.

You can buy old suit-cases that look nice and mount.

I see some of the enduro touring riders mount 20mm ammo cans, but I don't think that would give me the 'right' look.
