Hi all
Two small problems with my M2. First my rear brake only activates the brake light sporadicly. I think its a switch issue. To change the switch does it thread into that in line fitting or is there more to it then that?
Can a I get a replacement at NAPA or is it a Buell specific part?
Second issue involves my gas cap. I'm having a hard time removing it from the gas tank opening. The latch works well its just difficult to remove from the tank without a lot of fidgeting. Any suggestions?
Thanks

The plastic where the screw goes through it is wallowed out. I just had to replace mine. It got to the point where I could no longer get the cap off and had to remove the whole assembly.

Thanks Fasted for the info.
Scm2 did you have to replace the whole cap or just the plastic thingy?

I couldn't find just the plastic so I bought the whole gas cap off of ebay for 30 bucks.

The double "D" shaped piece (plastic) on the underside of the gas cap that rotates to latch the gas cap in place seems to expand over time and makes cap removal difficult. I carefully took a file and trimmed mine down, worked beautifully. I've had to do this twice about 4yrs apart. I have a 98 M2

+1 on the filing trick. Did it to both my S2 and my S1W, works great.

The gas cap on my M2 was sticking when I bought it used and I later noticed someone had trimmed part of the plastic trying to get it to come off easier.

When I thought I had it locked down I wanted to see if it would open anyways, and sure enough it popped right off!

I unscrewed the lock nut on the bottom and found that the shaft that goes to the latch has two flat sides that line up within the plastic so when you turn the latch the plastic is supposed to turn. Well, just as Scm2 noted, so was my caps plastic piece stripped out. The latch then just will spin in the hole.

They don't sell just the plastic piece. I bought a whole new locking cap from the dealer @ $54. The Blast cap doesn't have a lock and fits as well.

Just for kicks, try and latch it shut and see if it pulls up or begins to. It might have just a bit of tension on it to make you think you just latched it and it's sticking.
