The cilinders on my 99 x1 or scratcht on the inside. I could have them redone and place oversized pistons Bud i was reading some treads and am now considdering the axtell 1250 kit or xb12 cilinders and heads (maybee xb9 pistons), but i don't know much about this stuff. What would be the best thing to do???
(don't mind the spelling errors, I'm dutch)

Grtz

Check these people. They are reasonably priced and are great on giving advice.

Cheapest would be minimal rebore and new pistons/rings.
Meat's advice is excellent. NRHS will give you all pricing info and options, and Dan is very helpful.

rebore would indeed by the cheapest. but if i have to spend some money i'd rather do it on thing that would improve the bike.

FRom what I found in the archives, I would think that 04-up XL cylinders and heads whit xb9 pistons would be a good choice. any comments? would my exhaust still fit?

i bought my 2002 X1 with a hole in the front piston. front piston, cylinder, and head were all beyond repair. If you don't absolutely have to replace the cylinder and piston, I think your money could be better spent on other upgrades to get more power per dollar spent. If you need new cylinder and piston anyway, the 1250 kit makes a lot of sense.

I went with a 1250 kit, iron-lined cylinders, and 10.5:1 dome pistons. There is a noticeable power increase even with stock heads and cams.

My build is similar to yours PK.

I spent a lot on my top end, I put in the 1250 kit and XB\XL heads stage 2 port polish....But i had smaller diameter valve stem valves installed and I went with the .536 cams and a custom mapping and a dyno tune job. (Thanks JTSperformance)

Really loving this bike more and more.

99 X1,
first thing after market exhaust/air filter/breather reroute and ecu remap i would install -
light weight push rods,ti valve collets, high ratio roller rockers on the intake side only,
replace -
clutch spring plate with clutch plates, replace 2nd and 3rd gear with later ones, foot pegs with ally ones, front and rear disks with wave ones,
machine lighter front primary sprocket and rotor and machine lighter the front pulley,
this will make your X1 2kg lighter and it will rev up quicker and feel more responsive with no loss in torque or reliability,
then think about the 1250 kit and XB heads,

For the moment i'm running a forcewinder airfilter, force exhaust, Braking wave disk, AST rear suspension and have a dobeck tfi ready to be installed. Wen i do the rebore i have to get new pistons anyway. So this would be a good time to do the changes. With new cylinders, heads and pistons it would inhence the cooling, ad some power and the engine is new. has 21750 miles now. Im not looking for the last hp/nm so xb12cylinders, xl heads and xb9 pistons would be a good upgrade and probably cheaper then the 1250's.

Take that Rain sock off your air filter XONE if you have not already done it. You lose a little HP with it on. Put it under the seat until needed. It does help black out the bike more but if it was my bike i would take it off.

Very nice X1 by the way!! Love the black look you got going on there.
